Ōshige Shokudō X IPPUDO
$50++ per person
Japanese Corn Kakiage with Macha salt
Beef Tataki and Mushroom with special Yuzu sauce
Deliberately light on flavours to get us warmed up for the main course!
Cold noodles served in Edamame Vishisons with rock salt from France
Not sure how French rock salt differs from others tbh, but I love the creamy comforting taste of the soup with the noodles!
Tofu and summer vegetables salad
Eating this made me realise that tofu, stripped of distracting marinades, is tough to get right in terms of texture. This is really good!
Jun Ramen Nanabushi (七節)
I'll be honest... This healthy <600 calorie ramen is too healthy for me! 😂
Also couldn't fully appreciate the soup broth beyond its sweetness, which is made using 7 different types of dehydrated meats, including iwashi (sardine), masaba (mackerel), katsuo (skipjack tuna), fugu (puffer fish), chicken, pork and beef.
Matcha ice-cream with Japanese pancake
Just the right touch to end the meal!
I was served by mostly Japanese staff, who did their best to explain the items and attend to my needs. Their amiable and humble nature shone through!
It's a pretty cramped setting, but not to the point of being stifling.
An 8-min walk from Orchard MRT.
I think I had overly high expectations of the ramen, given how the champion had intense open competition. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't really wowed by it.
