As parents, we seek to teach our children so much to ensure they grow up happy, healthy, accepting and loving. For me, I think one of the most important lessons we can teach them is to love themselves and to be able to take care of their own mental well being. Understanding that it is ok to ask for help and that mental health is just as important as our physical health. My daughter has anxiety, which can go hand in hand with depression. I want her to know how to breathe, how to reach her inner calm and be at peace with herself. It will be a life long endeavor but I'm hoping that setting good habits now and learning how to take care of her mental health at a young age, will help her throughout her life. We have to stop the stigma surronding mental health problems and I appreciate open conversations like this that help to normalize these issues. You are not alone!
