Friday, take care of yourself. And if you feel you can't, ask someone to help you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"My dark days made me strong. Or maybe I already was strong, and they made me prove it."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are so many beautiful stories told. Far away lands, dashing heros, and intelligent heroines. But the books that mean the most can also be the stories most realistic.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our reality is that we don't talk enough about mental illness, and about how we truly feel. We don't reach out when we should, and just smile, nod and say it's fine.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stories like Emory Lord's When We Collided bring light to those dark moments, and even if the matter isn't so pretty, it can be told beautifully.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Q: How are you really doing?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📖: When We Collided by Emery Lord | Bloomsbury⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There are lots of arms, groping for you. They could bite you, but they won´t, if you do not allow.
Remember: You have the whole control. If you smile down to those arms, if you smile at those people, they won´t come back to you.
But if you show them your weakness, you won´t grow above them and those people will bring you to fall.
That´s not your goal.
If it´s difficult:
Keep going. Let your mind be free, but not your back.
It´s good fi it´s difficult, because you work hard.
And it´s good if people hate you, because it means you are doing something.
They wouldn´t hate you, if you you didn´t do something, they alawys wanted to do, or if you are somebody, they always wanted to be.
The key is: Ignore haters. They are a sign of success.

From my Instagram-name, you have probably guessed that I love music. I have always had a big passion for music and sound, thus also speech. During my years at uni, I studied both the English language, literature, and history along with Musicology, and I have always been very interested in how to use the voice - both in terms of speech sounds, but even more importantly, in singing.
Aarhus Universitetsforlag publishes these beautiful, tiny books called "Tænkepauser" ("Reflections"), which gives a brief introduction to a certain subject. ||It is only a novel... or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language.||
~Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
Mark Twain once described classic novels as "a book which people praise and don't read.", sadly this is the ugly truth
Authors have been conveying their thoughts and stories into words of literature for ages.. Some authors' books have survived and are still acknowledged as timeless pieces of literature for having intriguing plot device and compelling characters ☆
Usually classics can be just as entertaining and engaging as our modern literature.. The terminology might be unfamiliar and outdated but isn't that necessary to comprehend and learn more about the time they were written in ☆
I wouldn't describe myself as a classic reader but someone who finds great pleasure in reading intellectually and aesthetically pleasing books.. There are books that I've read cuz' of their scientific significance or due to my interest in a certain historical era ☆
Long story short, classics shouldn't be tossed away and I think they should appreciated more.. I'm not trying to force anybody to read classics cuz' they 'have' to, but rather to explore the origins of certain literature mythologies, ancient plot devices and interesting terminologies and see how the evolved over time ❤
Do you read classics cuz they interest you or cuz you feel like you kinda have to? ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

i honestly hate it when i read in public, usually at school during my recess or free periods, and someone would come up to me and try to start a conversation with me. it's especially frustrating when i'm reading an intense or important scene in the book and i would have to reread everything again because i stopped halfway to entertain somebody else.
heyy how are you all doing? i apologise for not posting for a couple of days, i've been super busy and exhausted with school. also, i just had my birthday on jan 15th so i'm officially 17 now !!
i've been really slow when it comes to reading and it's all thanks to school once again :( i'm not even halfway through my tbr and all the books i've read so far has been dnf-ed ughh helpp
gooood mornin!!! just started this one and feelin pretty good about it so far! :) weirdly enough, i haven’t yet read THE IMMORTALISTS, but i’ve been wanting to!! any opinions on which one is better??
How many bookmarks are too many bookmarks 🤷🏼♀️ The correct answer is there can never be too many because I want them all 😆
Have you seen all the new things popping up over on @sjwonderlandz
Etsy shop? Not only does she have a ton of gorgeous bookmarks but she has prints, pins, wooden bookmarks, and now even mugs 🙌🏻 I recently became a winter rep for her and am so excited to be able to share a discount code with all of you so you can become just as obsessed as I am with all of her beautiful items. She has everything from Harry Potter to Gilmore Girls and even will work with you to make custom items (she seriously comes up with the neatest designs - check out the ones she made for @blackheartreads
bc they turned out amazing)!
My code JENN10 will save you 10% on each item in her shop (not including items already on sale). She just recently listed January/February exclusive prints so be sure to check those out before they are gone.

We are closing in on the end of the rainbow 😱😱 But that doesn’t mean I can’t prolong it just a bit more 😏
Friday is finally upon us my friends. Let’s all celebrate 🥳🥳
Any fun plans for the weekend? It’s a three day one for me 🙌🏻 But it’s supposed to snow buckets so I will probably spend most of it at home, doing school work and maybe sneaking in some reading. Honestly, nothing could sound better after such a long week! I’m looking forward to it 🤗

What's your current read? .
I'm currently reading Imprison the sky by @acgaughen
the 2nd book of the Elementae series. I love the 1st book so much that I plucked the courage to email the publisher to request an ARC. And to my surprise, it was granted??? 🙀😳
I'm only 40% into the book so far but I have to say, I'm already loving it! This series is honestly one of the best elemental theme books I've read in a long time so I'm super excited that I get to read book 2. I can't wait to write a full review once I'm finished with the book 😆 just to give you guys a hint of what the book is about here's my short summary of what happened so far: .
Wind elemental + a ship hybrid with a plane + badass captain + slaves + secret islands + pirates + family + sexual tensioooon.
Day 18. Book with Magic.
Day 18. TGIF (bookish character you'd party with).
Day 18. Character that deserves their own book.
Nightlight with his literature namesake from the Guardians series by William Joyce. <3 We started this series in November and have been delighted by it. The kids beg to read them. They are full of beautiful illustrations, heart, adventure, danger and love. When we knew we were adopting this fluffy white beastie, we knew his name had to be a nod from this time in our lives, reading books that we all love so well.

Avete letto Il miglio verde?
The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm by @christopher_paolini
: 5/5 ⭐s
Okay, let me start of by saying....I LOVED THIS LITTLE BOOK SO MUCH!! From the moment I cracked open the book, I got the sweetest whiff of nostalgia that stayed with me until I flipped to the last page. I did not realize until last night just how much I missed Eragon and his world. And Christopher's writing!! It's stunning. I finished this book in one sitting, and almost turned around to read it over again. Yes, it's just a collection of short stories, but it is officially my favorite book I've read in 2019 so far. Which is really saying something, considering I read Vengeful and The Martain this month. If anyone out there was on the fence about reading this wee gem, jump off and race to your nearest bookstore. It's magical and beautiful and nostalgic, and it...hints at things to come.
"You think that killing millions of people for the crimes of a few is going to be the answer to all your problems? Okay, so a group of people have resorted to terrorism, and your solution is to blow up everyone there? Just because they may have a culture different to yours, speak a language that you're unfamiliar with, live according to a faith that differs from your own does not rule out the fact that they are still people. They are real people, men, women, children, who hate the violence and conflict that erupts every hour of the day!"
Operation Dard and Devotion! A novel that made us all realize and acknowledge the power that Wattpad as a story-telling platform offers to anyone who seeks it. ODAD, as we call it, is the most influential and eye-opening story I've come across on wattpad.
ODAD talks about terrorism and religion, yesss the two things that are so complicated or in our case so entangled that talking about one can not be imagined without mentioning the other. Yet, it does not only talk about them but also tries to highlight the difference between them. What makes this story even more interesting is the reality that the author has put in its scenes which makes it hard to differentiate between reality and fiction.
It is a story of love, hope, fear, revenge, and redemption.
ODAD is about a girl who gets kidnapped by a group of terrorists and well you can imagine what happens next, just make that 3 times worse.
Ps: I didn’t finished this book because I was too scared of the ending and the devastation it’s bound to cause. .
QOTD: Is there any book you didn’t finish? And why?

An animal you wanna have as a pet?🤗
A weird one?

Book review : Less by Andrew Sean Greer .
Book 11 of 2019
A book that has won a prize in 2018 #cowreadingchallenge2019
( my city shortens to COW :) )... Also according to Instagram , I'm the only person in the world participating haha).
With this book, Greer won the Pulitzer last year . Due to my past experiences with literary prize winners and the mixed reviews of it around, I've been book procrastinating it and it has been pushed back to the bottom of the TBR pile a few times. .
I'm not sure what I was worried about , it was very readable ! The characters even had names! ( I'm looking at you Milkman haha).
Arthur Less is about to turn 50, his writing career has stalled, his on and off fling about to get married. He has found a way to put his head in the sand for both events by accepting every overseas work propositions coming his way and thus start Arthur Less' world tour .
As I said there has been some mixed reviews, it won the Pulitzer and a lot of people found it absolutely hilarious while others called it pretentious and boring.
I ended up somewhere in the middle. I had a few laugh at loud chuckles . Imagine : An Idiot Abroad crossed with Eat, Pray , love. I also had a few eye rolls . Yes, he's mocking the life of a writer yet the teasing feels affected, like a big inside false joke for the high brow literary world.
Greer is clearly talented though. He created quite an unlikeable, wishy washy, pitiful , self absorbed character that ended up winning me over. .
By the end of this short ( 270 pages) novel as I was cheering Less on and was more than satisfied by the ending.
Have you read it? What did you think? Do you enjoy reading Pulitzer's winners? .

Yay it’s finally Friday! Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?
What book genre would you like to read more of?
I would really like to read more non-fiction. Im weird and enjoy reading biographies/autobiographies. Most of the ones I read are sports related but I really do enjoy reading about people’s lives...I mean that in a non-creepy way haha 😂 So Im hoping this year I can read the few that are sitting in my TBR pile. .
- genre you want to read more
Picked up a few bookish goodies today. I’ve never read any Sarah J. Maas, but when my friend @krisreadsbooks
tells me to buy a book, I buy it. There are only a handful of people who know my taste well enough that I accept all of their book recommendations implicitly. Do you have any kindred book spirits who always know if a book is for you or not?
