TIP OF THE DAY: Buy wool clothes for a sustainable, quality option.
Wool can be a great option for ethical, environmentally-friendly, long-lasting clothes. But it's, um, special.
Wool is breathable, odor-absorbing, warming AND cooling, biodegradable, high-quality, and long-lasting **if cared for properly**. That's the rub. If you choose to start buying wool clothing, I recommend designating a separate bin for wool clothes only, because literally the worst thing that can happen to your wool is for it to get in the wash.
You only have to clean your wool products about every 5 wears or so because of their odor-repellant properties. Many wool items can be dry-cleaned, but cashmere shouldn't be, so I do all my wool the same way. I wash it in COLD water in the sink with baby shampoo or liquid Castile soap (lavender scent can help keep moths and other bugs away; also, have I mentioned my lavender obsession?). Squeeze it out gently, then lay it flat on a white or your oldest, most-washed towel so there won't be dye transfer, and roll it all up like a sleeping bag to get out the excess water. Lay flat to dry.
Wool stretches easily, especially when wet, so never hang sweaters on a hanger. Fold them instead and store them with lavender sachets. On the plus side, if you do shrink your wool a little bit, you can gently stretch it out again or reshape it if it gets wonky after a few wears. (If it goes in the dryer, it's toast. I'm sorry.)
If you buy wool secondhand, put it in a sealed container in the freezer for 24 hours, take it out for 12, then freeze it for 24 again just as a precaution against carpet moth eggs.

. It’s tricky when so much of the styling out there is “influencing” a sale, a look, a product. Interiors all start looking the same. We bought more art, packed the walls with it all rather than swapping out. I made my first big piece of totally unique custom furniture using salvaged decommissioned Australia post boxes, and repurposed leather. I finally decided what to put above the stove, The vintage NSW Rail luggage rack another @gumtreeaus
win, coincidentally the same place I finally hunted down the exact plant stand I had been looking for that was retired from Ikea years ago!! Some people style their entire homes on the most current offerings from X department store. Not us 🥰 I will do an up to date room by room soon, because of course it’s all changed since these were taken!! #interiordesign #beunique #mystyle #dontbeastyleclone #nonudewalls #gallerywalls #buysecondhand #recycle #repurpose #supportartists #fasthomewearsareasbadasfastfashion
