Why should you include the Goblet Squat into your leg day or lower body strengthening routine? 🧐 1. This squat variations allows you to target your quadriceps since the dumbbell is displaced in front of your knees 2. Forces you to maintain a neutral spine and vertical posture to help improve squat biomechanics 3. It is an excellent squat variation for beginners that are not use to having a barbell in a high bar or low bar squat position (⬆️ weight tolerance) 4. Widening your base of support and externally rotating your legs will help strengthen Gluteus Maximus/Medius 5. Allows for a lower load squat variation to increase depth and muscle activation while getting “deep” into your squats 6. Lastly, it helps build the 🍑 and who doesn’t want that 😂 I would recommend picking a lighter weight dumbbell to start and perform 3-4 sets of 12-15 repetitions and you will really feel the burn 🔥 Let me know how this squat variation works for you! 💪🏼

I’m often surprised at how people present when they come to me from other facilities. The quads (in addition to range of motion) sets the foundation for rehab. In the immediate post operative phase, I encourage my patients to perform quad sets hundreds of times a day. This by no means reducing the importance of hamstring, glutes and calf strength.❗️#WesleyTalksACLs ——- 🏋️‍♀️Here are three exercises focused on the quads I like to use in rehab. These can be done in the middle to late strengthening phase but is obviously patient dependent (please don’t ask me what week she is or what week you can do these, the answer is, it depends!) 1️⃣ Single leg pistol box squat - a challenging exercise that I’m using to focus on eccentric quad strength as I have her slowly lower down. 2️⃣ Box squats - squats are a foundational exercise that should be utilize in every ACL rehab. One of my favorite exercises to address shoulder stability and thoracic spine mobility issues. This movement provides for simultaneous recruitment of the rotator cuff, scapular retractors, and latissimus dorsi while facilitating rotation and extension of the thoracic spine. Start with a light kettlebell, and work towards 10–12kg for females and 16-20kg for males, as tolerated with control. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣ If starting with the right arm, lay on your back with your right shoulder next to the kettlebell. Roll onto your right side to grab it with both hands. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Roll onto your back again and press the kettlebell up, keeping your arm vertical. Place your left arm on the ground and keep it in line with your shoulder. Bend your right leg and place your foot flat on the floor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Push through your right foot and rotate your hips to roll onto your left side, while keeping the kettlebell overhead. Keep your right arm as straight as possible to feel the stretch in your chest and thoracic spine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4️⃣ Roll over as far as you can onto your left side until your right knee contacts the ground. Hold for 3-5 seconds, then return to your back while keeping your arm vertical. Complete 5-10 rounds, then lower the kettlebell to your chest. At this point in the project, I just need ONE tiny “pretty place”. Construction dust, tools, paint brushes, blah blah blah...they all begin to fatigue me at this point. You look around and see 2 little things that need done in a room, and you think “this room’s gonna be done in an hour!” Then you realize those 2 little things are actually 27 littler things, probably 9 trips up & down the basement stairs, search for the tool you need, a run to get more paint, another run because you forgot a new trim brush, and 3 days later there’s still ONE little thing that needs done🙄...my “adult onset ADHD” might play a role in this😂...but STILL just ONE pretty place makes a WORLD of difference in my attitude...and who can resist a cozy window seat? Yeah, not me. Its been a couple of days since our return from this amazing trip to the Boundary Waters. We've been off the grid, and really trying to process what impact a trip like this has on us as individuals and as a business... ✨✨✨ 1. A return to the idea that we all are tiny specks on this planet that have a limited time to enjoy all that this great land has to offer and to make an impact that lasts. All the insignificant stresses, anxieties, and worries many of us have really will never amount to anything at all as the world has too many other "energies" to tend to. 2. Along with above, when you think about the odds that we had to even become humans, in this vast universe, it makes it a little easier to be truly grateful and not waste the time we have. 3. Seasons, weather, people, lanscapes all change. Your pain IS real! You are not 🥜 nuts ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ •Pain doesn’t correlate to tissue damage.⁣ •The diagnosis isn’t the cause. ⁣ •It’s just a name which itself often causes you to have more symptoms than first experienced⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Example: One person has a disc bulge with no pain, the other a disc bulge and back pain.⁣ Same diagnosis different pain ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ If you have tried everything and still experiencing pain look for other causes.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Pain is protective. The brain ‘learns’ patterns to protect you from more pain. Thankfully no one was hurt and the fire was contained. 🔥Tennis Elbow 🔥 Tennis elbow is pain that develops on the lateral aspect of the elbow. Reasons range from improper mechanics, overuse or repetitive strain. Sometimes this even seems to come up at random. Usually there is a precipitating event ... like ... well 🎾 tennis. . Acupuncture is very effective in releasing pain and also promoting healing of these microtears involved in tennis elbow. When combining the two therapies is a dynamite rehab routine. Here is a post from none other than the legend Tom Walters @rehabscience showing very effective excerices to do to help rehab and gain proper strength back in the arm. . Everyone say thanks Tom! . 1️⃣Radial Nerve Mobilization: The radial nerve runs through the extensor compartment of the forearm and may be associated with tennis elbow type pain. The specific movement shown here will put the radial nerve on tension and can be a useful technique for decreasing any nerve sensitivity in the region. . 2️⃣Wrist Extensor Isometrics: Position the arm so that only the wrist and hand are hanging off of the support surface. From here, hold a weight that is challenging and shoot for 4-5 reps of 30-45 seconds. Moderate discomfort is okay while performing exercises that load the tendon. Start with this exercise if your symptoms are more severe in nature and progress to the next one when they dissipate a bit. . 3️⃣Wrist Extensor (Heavy-Slow) Curls: Move through the full range of motion, which will work the wrist extensors both concentrically and eccentrically. Shoot for 3-4 sets of 6-12 repetitions. . 4️⃣Arm Curls with Wrist Extensor Emphasis: In this arm curl variation, hold the bar so that the palms are pointed down. When the bar is in the start position, move the wrist into flexion. As the elbows bend and the bar raises, squeeze the wrist extensors so that the wrist is in full extension at the top of the movement. So it turns out it may have been handy to tick the box to insure your race entry price against injury. 4 weeks to go until #ocrwc and have been diagnosed with patella tendonitis. Time to focus on rehab, (lucky that’s what I do) lots of eccentric loading work and cycling/rowing to keep fitness up alongside lots of massage, yay! Time to put more focus on hanging strength for the technical obstacles. En cuanto a la manipulación del volumen de entrenamiento⚠️, lo usual es que descienda por medio de disminuir el tiempo de entrenamiento, ya que entrenar con una frecuencia menor puede interactuar con otras variables, por ejemplo, en deportes de equipo (entrenamiento de la técnica, táctica…) . Pero, ¿cuáles son los posibles mecanismos por los que funciona el Taper❓📚 El Taper puede llevar a Hipervolemia y a una mayor producción de glóbulos rojos, junto con un aumento de la actividad de la enzima oxidativa. Esto podría traducirse en términos generales en una mejora del VO2 máx📈. También es lógico pensar que un menor gasto energético en los entrenamientos podría llevar a una mejora en los factores biomecánicos y neurales (fuerza y potencia) de cara a competición. När jag var 26år (2015) gjorde jag min första magnet röntgen på ländryggen pga smärtor som trappats upp under kort tid utan att utsättas för mer än vardags saker. Den visade på förändringar i ryggen bl.a L5 -S1. Men inga åtgärder vidtogs, ingen återkoppling eller något. Nu 3år senare har detta alltså blitt värre. I januari/februari bad jag om en ny MR pga att dem nya smärtorna inte gick över. Jag blev nekad detta och fick gå på rehab! Nu 8 månader senare konstaterar dem med hjälp av MR att ryggen blitt värre, och jag har då i 8 månader gått med smärtor, fått sjukskriva mig till och från ifrån mitt personliga assistent jobb. Har kämpat med mina egna företag @nybromobilfix och @nkkosttillskott för att hålla den flytande och betala hyran. Har inte kunnat sjukskriva mig för då måste butiken stängas vilken jag inte har ekonomi till. Så jag har med dessa smärtor, en jäkla massa mediciner jobbat med en heltid för att jag är för ung för att ha en dålig rygg! Innan det blev såhär så gymmade jag 4-5ggr i veckan, fotboll 1 gång i veckan och trädgårdsarbete hemma. Nu gör jag inget om jag har tur med smärtor kanske gym 1 gång varannan vecka. 💥 GROIN STRAIN REHAB 💥 Groin strains are common injuries in hockey, soccer, and football players 🏈 due to the frequent rapid direction changes while athletes are moving. They are also common in strength athletes 🏋️‍♂️ who utilize wide stance (low bar) squats and perform sumo deadlifts due to the position of the hips • • • These strains usually affect the large adductor muscle group of the hip/thigh that not only adduct the hip (self explanatory 🤔), but also contribute to hip flexion and extension based on hip position • • • The best way to rehab this injury is to avoid aggravating activities (sprinting, lateral movement etc) while slowly loading the tissues to get them stronger and more resilient • • • These videos demonstrate exercises that I commonly prescribe for this sort of injury,  going from least ➡️ most challenging: 1🔷️ Isometric hip adduction - least aggressive. Perform sets of 30 seconds, squeezing as hard as you can WITHOUT pain 2🔷️ Bridge with isometric adduction - adds some hip extension into the game. Sets of 10-15 reps 3🔷️ Copenhagen plank w/ assist - use bottom leg to assist as much as necessary. Sets of 20-30 seconds 4🔷️ Copenhagen plank - maintain neutral midline. Sets of 10-20 seconds 5🔷️ Groin slider with resistance - adds load in stretched position, so most difficult/aggressive. Любой зависимый, который находится в стадии срыва или, тем более, рецидива (т.е. активного употребления), нечестен и лжив, так как это одни из симптомов зависимого поведения. Страхи и боль перед реальностью побуждают зависимого человека жить во лжи. Соответственно, если зависимость находится в стадии регрессии, реагировать на все ее симптомы (ложь, отрицания проблемы, истерики или депрессии) нет смысла. Реагировать нужно не на последствия, а на причину, т.е. на сам корень — зависимость. Проводить интервенцию (вмешательство) и побуждать близкого родственника на лечение. Но если, зависимый начинает лгать находясь в стадии ремиссии, то это первый звоночек родственникам, говорящий о том, что человек возвращается к прошлой модели мышления, поведения. А следствие этого процесса: «срыв» и в употребление. Ложь — это один из признаков срыва. И если человек стал обманывать окружающих людей или, что еще опасней, стал не честен сам перед собой, то лучше не ждать продолжения, а в теплой и доверительной обстановке начать говорить с зависимым о том что его беспокоит, и чем мы ему можем помочь. Нужно дать почувствовать ему любовь и заботу, расположить его к доверительному разговору и может даже предложить сессию с психологом, который поможет остановить тот самый процесс срыва.
