Reasons to LIFT RAW
1. COMPETITION DISCLAIMER. Unless you’re competing, you don’t need any accessories, safeties or crutches
2. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Don’t interfere with your bodies natural feedback system (if your right knee is caving when you #squat
. wrapping it isn’t serving you). Discover why, and work on it (muscle imbalance/compensatory patterning).
3. REAL WORLD #STRENGTH
. 1:1 translation (if you can’t lift the weight unassisted, then you can’t lift it). You don’t put a belt on to lift furniture or wrap your wrists around every object you want to hold.
. Poor dorsiflexion? Don’t throw on shoes. Work on it. Can’t front rack? Work on it. Can’t increase your bench and only ever feel stress in your delts and triceps? Work on it. Excuses and ego will only expedite your path to #injury
5. KNOW THE INTENT. Lifting equipment are just another tool. A tool specifically for given tasks. There’s a reason they exist in the first place after all. But don’t coddle yourself, be uncomfortable, and most importantly, be patient.
P.S. Waist trainers are fucking stupid. They atrophy your core, crush your internal organs, reduce blood flow and performance. You want a better hip to waist ratio? Then develop your obliques and shoulders. -
