M. adductor magnus is one of the biggest muscle in the human body. Something that is hard to see in a 2-dimensional text book is that m. adductor magnus is twisted and curved like a sail on a boat. This twist you see is a result of the medial rotation of the femur in foetal development. If you look closely to the ligaments around the hip joint, you will see the same twist.

It’s also important to mention that m. adductor minimus is considered a part of m. adductor magnus.

Origin: M. adductor magnus originates from tuber ischiadicum, ramus inferior ossis pubis and ramus ossis ischii.

Insertion: M. adductor magnus inserts on linea aspera femoris and tuberculum adductorium.

Innervation: M. adductor magnus is innervated by n. obturatorius and n. tibialis.

Action: M. adductor magnus extends, flexes, adducts and externally rotates femur at the hip.

Suck...😞 Har en nytt besök hos sjukgymnasten i morgon och mer stötvågsbehandling. Jag får se vad han säger då. Igår cyklade jag 25 km på morgonen. Cykla är skitkul och verkligen skönt men de här långa uppehållen med löpning är såå dryga och jobbiga. Löpningen ger något som inte riktigt går att gå på samma sätt någon annanstans. Nog med gnäll nu. Det finns så många som har det betydligt tuffare just nu. De med allvarliga fysiska skador och sjukdomar och alla de som drabbats hårt och skoningslöst, ekonomiskt, praktiskt och känslomässigt under denna heta sommaren. Very happy with Tom dialling in his Blocks Starts early! They’re looking good and FAST 🏃‍♂️💨 . . . The Blocks and Start of a 100m race only account for 6% of the total race (Tom Tellez), BUT it doesn’t mean you need to only spend 6% of your time out of blocks and starts. The start is the only part of the race that is an Open Skill (reacting to stimulus - the gun) and it can decide a race, because in the 100m you’re dealing with hundredth’s or thousandth’s of seconds NOT SECONDS OR METRES. . . . Here’s my 3 Key tips for nailing your start and optimising your blocks 1. PRACTISE - obvious I know, but as i mentioned the start is the only open skill required in a race. Get different people to start you, use different command noises, and have distractions. You’ll never know what can happen on race day. 2. POSITION - Improving and having a good position can help you nail your start. Let’s take a quick look at the “SET” position. Ideally, you when raised in set as seen in the video, you want your shoulders over your hands, chin tucked in (neutral spine), hips high enough so that the rear leg is more or less perpendicular to the ground, and the whole foot pressed firmly against the blocks to prevent a calf reflex action. 3. PROJECTION - When taking off from the set position, the aim is to project your WHOLE BODY forward PUSHING yourself down and away with your leg drive. To make the most of a forward body lean and to utilise your centre of mass in front of your body you have to push away and project your body forward with quick and powerful arm drives, fast leg strikes and avoiding over-striding and be sure to not feel as though you are “PULLING” yourself as this can slow down the leg stride turnover leading to hip shifting, ice skating (striding out to to the side) or falling over. I could write an essay on block starts, I don’t feel like I even covered half of what I wanted to say here. But apply these and see how you go. Regrann from @joerehab - LOW BACK PAIN [QL release technique] . After my post the other day there was quite a few questions about how to release the low back in a safer way. . But first let's revisit why we want to avoid foam rolling the low back. The amount of extension that occurs can cause quite a bit of pain for those that have an anterior pelvic because you're pushing yourself even FURTHER into this direction. . Remember that this is a larger picture called lower cross syndrome which is a series of muscle imbalances that lead to that back pain in the first place. . So how can we target the lower back in a safer way? We want to get the paraspinals AND the QL (quadratus lumborum) in this case so @jessrehab and myself made sure to show you guys both of these. . The pink tape is the QL and the black tape is the paraspinals. For the purpose of the video we only showed the QL because it's more complex but feel free to try both out. . The day after the day before, time for reflection. Three years ago I was recuperating from a microfracture repair to my left knee, basically told that I had major degeneration of the medial femur. The repair may last 2 to 8 years before requiring further surgery to replace the knee. I was told I could cycle and swim (no breast stroke) and not to run. Needless to say I lost all confidence. Three years later, I have just completed my 2nd triathlon. I have had to overcome lots of obstacles and mental barriers/fears to achieve this. I have a lot to work on still, but, I am looking forward to my next one already. I have said this before, but, I am so lucky to have some truly amazing people come into my life, who have helped me overcome those obstacles and barriers and change my mindset from can't do to can do. Thank you again to @mark_sim_ , @salimswimlab , @davidcolept and @nickjmetcalfe without your coaching and support, I'd of not achieved what I have done. It's been a while… In the last 18 months I have battled with two major injuries which have both resulted in surgery.
