When donating to food shelves, don't forget about your furry friends 🐶🐱 Great organizations like @people_and_pets_together work hard to make sure everyone can feed their pets, even during hard times, which in turn helps reduce the number of pets in shelters! 👍🏻 We can't wait to drop off all this food and support their fundraiser at @tinydiner tomorrow. Please come help them out if you are able to! ❤️
Fosters are the heartbeat to our organization. Without them, TLP wouldn't exist.
The definition of the word “foster” is to promote the growth or development of or to give parental care to. For The Love Pit, becoming a foster parent to a dog means exactly that and is a vital part of the organization. When asked what the best way is to help The Love Pit, fostering a dog is one of the top answers because we do not have a boarding/kennel facility or shelter. We cannot save a dog’s life without a committed long-term foster.
Fostering is a big commitment, but it is our goal to create a learning and continuing education culture that benefits the dogs, the volunteers, the rescue, and our mission. Our fosters are prepped and coached by TLP coordinators to be set up for success. Our orientation process consists of asking our volunteers to follow our set guidelines, policies and procedures that have been developed over years of experience. We provide ongoing training for pit bulls with Professional training options and tailored training strategies for each dog. Providing the support for our fosters is another reason why @ntxgivingday is so important to us! The funds we will raise will help us continue rescuing and rehabilitating homeless pit bulls around North Texas.
In the end there is always something more that drives these good humans to step up and give these dogs the chances they deserve. We have asked our fosters to share THEIR WHY. Tune in this Sunday for an exclusive view at what motivates our Bully Buddies to open their hearts and their homes to dogs in need.

What's better than one Beagle? TWO Beagles!
When Foster Mom went to the shelter to pick up her newest Foxhound foster, Bonnie caught her eye. She wasn't leaving without her, so Bonnie joined the Gentle Jake's family!
Fast forward to today....Bonnie has hit paydirt and is living the good life with her new fur sister Trudy and her new favourite person, Allan.
Big thanks to the dedication of our foster team, especially Kristy Hoornick who made this happy ending happen!
Congrats to all! #beaglesofinstagram#foreverhome#rescuesaveslives#beaglelove
Post walk race to the door!
Our walk got eventful early on when a loose dog came charging across a very busy road that’s usually riddled with traffic this time of day. Thankfully there was a break in cars when Nikki came running out without hesitation only to freeze in the middle of a traffic lane. With all 3 boys I panicked because they usually bark at dogs on walks but they all seemed stunned and frozen too. I tried coaxing her out of the street while yelling “EXCUSE ME, YOUR DOG IS LOOSE AND IN THE STEEER!!” Thankfully her owner was in the garage and came running out to grab her before a cluster of traffic made its way through. He seemed completely stunned at the incident too but thankfully nothing bad happened. •
Now it’s time for coffee 😂
Shea is ready to find her furever home. She is looking for a lifelong commitment from a family that will love her forever! We have spent the last 4 weeks loving on Shea because she is a part of our foster family and she is the sweetest dog. Always excited when we come home. She is around a year old and is still a puppy herself, she is full grown and weighs about 30lbs. We’ve house trained Shea, introduced her to other dogs which she gets along well with, showed her how fun it is to go for walks with the other dogs. She finds her spot on the couch and enjoys being around her people. Shea will be available at the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando - Sanford location this weekend. #adoptdontshop#cleartheshelters#dogs#dog#rescuesaveslives#petallianceorlando#petallianceofgreaterorlando
This sweet girl is Kneesha! She is another senior dog from @austinanimalcenter
Here is what the Austin Animal Center had to say about Kneesha: “I am a tan and white, spayed female, who looks like a Chihuahua - Long Haired and Silky Terrier.
I am estimated to be 7 years old.
I am not currently at the Austin Animal Center, but I am staying in a foster home. If you are interested in adopting me, please follow the instructions outlined in How to Adopt a Foster.
The Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Kneesha is a special little dog who is happy with a simple life. Her foster dad says "She doesn't require much. She's always happy to see me when I get home. She likes to jump right into my lap and cuddle up with me in the chair watching TV. It can take her a while to warm up to new people but she always comes around. And she is house trained!" While at the shelter, Kneesha had surgery on her knees, so she doesn't need a lot of exercise, but she gets around great now! She's happy to go for short potty breaks and then cuddle up with her favorite person!
Want to learn more about this sweet little lady? Email her foster dad at email@example.com ”
Kneesha has been at Austin Animal Rescue for 900 days. If you’re looking for a more mellow lap dog, Kneesha will be the perfect fit for your home! Make her a part of your family today!
