Let’s Talk About Botox: Wrinkles or Expression Lines? 💉💉
— I have received many requests regarding my opinion and research on Botox. First, for those who don’t know, Botox works by relaxing the muscle. Once your muscle is relaxed, it then relaxes the overlying skin, paralyzing the muscle not to move. It is a safe procedure done in the doctor's office, but, at what age should one start thinking about this? I believe in one's thirty's is a good age to talk to your doctor. That is the age expression lines can turn into a deeper winkle! I have read and been told that doctors find it unnecessary to treat anyone under the age of 25 (a waste of time and money). It is essential to find a reputable doctor who is conservative with the Botox units; less is more! For those not ready to see a doctor, or too young, the real way to prevent wrinkles is sunscreen! Wearing sunscreen on a daily basis will help keep you looking younger for much longer over anything else. It’s preventative and easy, no doctors required. Sun damage can be irreparable at a certain point, so instead of looking to procedures, do your best to be as preventative as possible. Your skin is your largest organ- take care of it! (See sunscreen post 10/1).
— All in all, everyone is different and has issues pop up at different times. I say if something bothers you on your face when you are expression-less, then go for it, you do you! Botox can prevent them from getting deeper and deeper as days pass. So for now, if Botox is the way, stick to as little as possible, too much can cause more harm than good. You’re only young once, enjoy looking your age (maybe younger) and smile. 😊
