You need both gratitude and vision - and they can't exist without the other.
Gratitude is being thankful for what you have and what's been given to you, vision is where you are headed or want to go.
Gratitude without vision will lead to complacency and lack of movement - and eventually laziness. Vision without gratitude will lead to never being satisfied with what you have... nothing will ever be enough.
Where are you headed and what are you thankful for?
We talked last week about how to maximize your conversions through the placement of free shipping offers on your site.
In conjunction with displaying your offer in other critical positions throughout the store, it’s also important that you remind customers how they can qualify for your free shipping offer.
This is best done on the cart page or a cart summary dropdown in the header.
If your order minimum to qualify for free shipping is $50, include a shipping section that shows the dollar amount needed to apply for the free shipping reward.
The key to this tactic is making it crystal clear how they can qualify for free shipping in a way that prompts them during their shopping experience to meet that minimum.
“Make sure that you are seeing each person on your team with fresh eyes every day. People evolve, and so your relationships must evolve with them. Care personally; don’t put people in boxes and leave them there.” - Kim Scott, Radical Candor
If you are leading a team of any kind, I highly recommend reading this book. Great material on leadership and the power of radical conversation to transform your work.

We had a ton of fun working with @lightspeedhq
to put together a pretty extensive guide to growing your business over the holidays. Make sure you check out the guide on their website under Resources and let us know what you think.
Find a community that encourages you and allows you to grow. The idea of "doing it alone" is so hard but the idea of working alongside other business owners can make all the difference. Whether it's getting involved in your local chamber or joining groups like @theboutiquehub
, work to connect with other people experiencing what you are so you can grow together.

Free shipping is a staple of eCommerce. It’s highly expected, it’s highly sought out, and if it’s not available, it may be the reason a visitor doesn’t purchase.
Thanks to modern platforms, offering free shipping is not difficult (aside from the hit your profits may take). But if you’re really looking to get the most out of that offer, there are some strategies you will want to consider implementing.
1. As consumers become more experienced with shopping online, they’ve developed “banner blindness” – meaning they’ve learned to quickly ignore any content that feels like an advertisement. This is especially true of popups, banners, and header placements. The mistake here is not that these are the “wrong” locations – it’s that they shouldn’t be the only ones you use. Find ways to include your shipping offers on other pages or areas of your site.
2. An effective way to make sure that most visitors are seeing the free shipping offer is to include it near the “Add to Cart” button on your product pages. This is because this location is at the product level where users have drilled down to a very specific item that they are interested in. Here they are more likely to engage with the content related to that product because of it’s high relevancy to them. Yes, free shipping information can (and should) still be placed in site-wide banners or page headers, but you should always duplicate it near the “Buy” section to make it more noticeable to your customers.
is doing something great in the home and interior design world. I love that their stores are in very different cities and they manage to keep a consistent experience while adopting the look and feel of the community. If you’re in the Atlanta, Highlands (NC), Cornelius, or Saint Simons area, give one of their locations a visit. You won’t be disappointed!

Projects like these.... it has been totally rewarding to work with Maree from @beautifulroom
on her Living Studio project @eastland.
We have extended her offer from interior design services & retail space to build a place of play for the customer with their own design project t. Think of it like a gym membership just far more creative. The stunning launch last night is just the beginning of the rewarding times that her customers will have in accessing this membership design space. Finding new ways to drive engagement in retailing requires us to solve our customers challenges - not just sell stuff. The Living Studio, as a membership offer re thinks the possibility in the experience economy. Lucky us to have the trust of Alison & the Eastland team to take Maree on this journey. Totally worth a look and to meet the team. Suspect a 6 month membership may well be a hit for Christmas - let the journey commence!
A piece of advice for new retailers out there: If you’re set on perfection, you’re moving in the wrong direction. At the end of the day, your process will likely change as you grow and you’ll make some mistakes along the way. Be prepared for those, but don’t limit yourself in an effort to have everything perfect. Instead, shift the focus back to your customer and how you can make THEIR experience better. #mondaymotivation
Shoppers today want to know: 1) can I find what I’m needing at a good price and 2) can I pick it up in-store to get it faster & save on delivery fees?
Paying close attention to your customer experience is crucial for omni-channel retailers, because if you disrupt that buying path at any stage, the result is going to be a lost sale.
As an independent retailer, there are 2 primary omni-channel features you should be providing to keep customers on the path to making a purchase with you.
Are you implementing these 2 strategies in your store & online?
