If I had to sum up my life, it’s a gleeful balance between worlds. Between jungles and oceans, the logic brain and the intuitive heart, science and creativity, “work” and play. Being in balance is a key part of my value system, and I actively choose it every single day.
We may find ourselves struggling to find that balance at any given time in our lives. But what if I told you the key to balance is simple? Balance isn’t about forcing, “correcting” (you’ve done nothing wrong), or being unkind to yourself. It’s the beautiful realization that there are things you can let go in order to fall back into balance. I describe it as a “fall” because it feels just as natural as gravity. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example, if you’re struggling with balance, instead of asking yourself what you SHOULD or NEED to do, be super honest about what you can afford to let go to feel balanced again. Does that to-do list item need to be done right this second when you’d rather be spending time with people you love? Do you really have to go meet up with that random acquaintance when all you want to do is read a good book and sip some wine? Do you really want to travel but don’t want to because you are afraid of going on your own? In each of these cases, I’m sure you can identify where to let go in order to follow the path you want to follow.
I’ve learned to shed parts of myself that don’t align with balance (ahem, perfectionism and need to please others). Today I challenge you to fall into beautiful balance by letting go. ⚖️
