TO HANDLE OR NOT TO HANDLE?
We've seen a lot of smudge sticks in our time and a lot are done in a 'torch' style that use bare sage sticks as a 'handle'. They do look good, but the frustrating part is that there's not that much actual sage leaf in the bundle, which is what creates the smoke when you smoulder your stick. This is why we don't stock the torch style, but only the thick style that are leaves all the way to the end. Burn them in an abalone shell or censer (which will also catch the ash) and you really don't need a 'handle'. We've popped a business card in the photo to give an indication of the chunky, thick size of our white sage sticks - there's a LOT to them, but they're priced at only $7.75 for the small-medium, and $17.50 for the XL.
SMUDGING TIP: You can break pieces of your smudge stick off and burn them over charcoal, like you would with resins like Frankincense or Dragons Blood. Try burning sage leaves with palo santo chips for their positivity and anti-negativity benefits.
