We spent the day skirting the South Fork of the Salmon River, peering over towards the Frank, and checking in on some terraced gardens dating to the late 1800s/early 1900s. How the Cantonese man living in this steep and wild place found the time to relax with a bowl of opium, I'll never understand, but I'm glad he left behind a ceramic bowl lid for us to look at.

If you listen you can hear it call.
There is a river called the river of no return,
sometimes it's peaceful and sometimes wild and free.
Love is a traveller on the river of no return,
swept on forever to be lost in the stormy sea.
I can hear the river call
I can hear my lover call, "come to me".
I lost my love on the river,
and forever my heart will yearn.
Gone, gone forever,
down the river of no return.
You never return to me.

River of No Return (1954).

The Frank Church, River of No Return Wilderness. What started with a map and a long drive ahead, turned into the moments of a lifetime. Complete utter silence. No one except us, and our minds to drift off and think of whatever this beauty brought to us. I pondered the question of “what does river of no return mean?” It hit me when I took that first picture.. why would anyone want to return after seeing beauty of this magnitude. Unreal vast beauty, untouched for millions on millions of acres. The beauty in it all. It came to me, that this is the beauty only seen by eye, the beauty I felt in my heart was something only I could feel. It became apparent to me, that everything and everyone has this beauty in them. Everyone is beautiful in there own way. Everything is beautiful in its own way. It’s only when you stop with the everyday moves and commotion of society that you get to experience this beauty within us all. Who’s to tell us what’s beauty and what isn’t? No one.. because in the scape and depth of everyday. Everything and everyone is beautiful... Thank you Frank Forester Church🐺
