Well I did a thing 😊 decided to switch from narrow grip bench press to wide grip bench press & now training bench 3x/week with variations 💥💪 . The weight feels heavy and my chest is so sore💀 but on a positive note is the bar path is shorter & my butt stays planted on the seat (not lifting up which is a failed bench in meets) I've struggled with my butt lifting off the bench for a long time🙌. . I've added variations to my bench press. Video 1. Is slow tempo 5secs down, 2 sec pause then me trying to explode the weight back up😂 5x5 Video 2. Banded bench press 10x4 Video 3. After a month and a half of taking it light after my annoying neck injury and then vacation in Ireland, my strength in the deadlift is slowly returning. 496 pounds + mini red bands was a fair amount less than I was hoping for, but it's still a good sign that things are getting back to where they should be. Then 7 reps of 396 + bands for the AMRAP.

After a true off-season for me, it was time to brush the dust off yesterday - not my best but definitely not my worst! 4/6, top lifts were 73kg/160# snatch & 96kg/211# C&J for a 169kg total to win the 64kg class. Big shoutout to @shane.hayes.902 for stepping in to coach for me, you were awesome! @limbsular it was even more eye opening to me that you’re the brain in this operation and I just lift the things 🤷🏻‍♀️ @mjrose7z just keep being you please. Started the morning's accessory training at @relentlessfitnessmodesto with two heavy-ish (for me) 5x5s on incline and flat bench. One set of incline then one set of flat using the same weights. 75# for 2 sets of each, then 80# for 2 sets of each and then 85# for the last set of each shown here. And yes I'm aware that I lost count and did too many. I have trouble counting above "3" under load. 😒 📽 Victoria

Today's long-off-season-schenanigans is the 50% beltless AMRAP challenge with deadlifts. I guess the only rule for this one other than no belt is you have to stay with the bar the whole time. And I guess if you take an unreasonable amount of time between reps. I got 22 with 290# if I counted right. This is harder than the squats in my opinion. Though I never do, and hate, touch and go reps, so that could be part of it. @relentlessfitnessmodesto

My final 3 sets of pull ups, done at the very end of my workout. Goal is to do a solid amount of total pull ups every day. Totals 42 today I think. As I get used to doing them the number will get respectable. And I'll start doing weighted pull ups on my all-accessories days.

Got back from my busy travel weekend in SoCal and when I woke up for work Sunday night my back had seized up and was in excruciating pain. Was gonna go to the gym monday night anyway, but when I woke up I physically couldn't get out of bed, so I stopped by @relentlessfitnessmodesto after work this morning to stretch it out and do some very light rehab squats and lower back movements. 😑 Well, me being me, as I stretched it out and rolled out my IT band with a lacrosse ball and warmed up on squats, it started to feel good...... so I went significantly heavier than I intended. Finished up with RDLs and reverse hypers and as of right now my lower back feels 100%. I guess it just needed to be put through its paces. We'll see how it feels when I wake up for work tonight.

I’ve had a few people ask me if I ever get dirty looks or complaints when I’m dead lifting? I honestly don’t know if other members have an issue put probably but I don’t pay attention to anyone else in the gym. And no I have never been asked to stop dead lifting or to be more quite. - - Who out there gets dirty looks from other members? Who gets complaints? And who has had a staff member tell you to “quit slamming the weights”? - - Btw thanks La Fitness staff for never giving me shit for dead lifting. It’s probably because I’m not one of those assholes that doesn’t retract there weights but who knows.
