Day 8 of the challenge is here! Today I'd like you guys to meet my favorite PC: Aladdin the half elf rogue!
Now before you tell me that Aladdin sounds derivative of well, Aladdin, allow me to explain. A friend of mine wanted to DM a campaign last summer to introduce a few other friends of ours to the world of D&D. He texted me the night before the campaign, and, at a loss for ideas, I turned on the TV and saw the titular character of the Disney classic singing and dancing. And thus Aladdin the rogue was born.
An orphan in Waterdeep adopted by the thieve's guild, Aladdin is a rogue who isn't really comfortable with his job, but merely happens to be good at it. This meek, stuttering child was so different from my usual characters (all heroic and grim and gritty) that roleplaying him was like a breath of fresh air and before I knew it, Aladdin was the character I was most looking forward to playing in the week.
And there's your lesson for the day, just like the lesson from Day 1: your characters don't have to be hyper unique; take inspiration from the real world and beyond, and make it your own! A certain teacher you think would make a great evil necromancer? Incorporate them! A certain Disney character who'd be a great rogue? Use the idea! D&D can be anything you make of it.

[Last night's workout]
So last night was pretty damn epic...
After a little over an hour of strength training, and a ton of core exercises that left me drained, we finished with a 500 meter erg sprint.
I told myself I'd be happy with anything around 1:40, but instead I ended up with this! I honestly had no idea I was going this fast, and I was just trying to give it everything I had.
I never would have thought I'd see 1:29.6 on the monitor, but this goes back to an earlier post on my story where I said it's the journey that makes you, not the destination.
I'm beyond excited at my time, and can't wait to see what comes next!!!

🇬🇧 Did you know that Icelanders believe in trolls and elves? Sounds unbelievable, but they call them ‘hidden people’ and say their location is among rocks and mosses in the nature. Once when Icelanders were ordinary farmers, they befriended hidden people, who helped hunt and fish together. There are even experts in language of elves and trolls and entire language courses, where teach how to communicate with hidden people. Icelanders say that there are people who believe in God, in holy spirits and heaven, so why can’t they have belief in hidden people. I couldn’t argue with that. 🙂
