Day 300 - happy the people of Rome aren’t going to put up with the chaos anymore. #romedicebasta #365daysofgratitude
This is Rome. Once the eternal city, it is now slowly crumbling away, swamped in rubbish. Wild boars roam the streets; ancient trees engulf pavements, towers of rubbish lie stagnant.
Where gladiators once marched toward the Colosseum, heaps of stinking rubbish now lie.
Its ancient ruins may still stand but the Italian capital is crumbling under years of mismanagement, corruption, and indifference. “Rome is aching," Emma Amiconi, of the group 'All For Rome, Rome For All' said.
The group has organised a protest on Saturday where thousands are expected. "Drowning in garbage, strangled by traffic and with such potholes that one doesn't even find in Kabul's outskirts", summed up by Corriere della Sera newspaper.
And while the city has long suffered from poor transport and the upkeep of its artistic treasures, many are raging at the current administration, led by Mayor Virginia Raggi. #romafaschifo
