Number 30: Fiddlehead - Springtime and Blind released by @runforcover
I absolutely LOVED the band Have Heart. The Things We Carry was a record that hit me at a time when I needed it most. Post high school, post long term relationship, newly diagnosed with diabetes and just generally not happy. They broke up and reunited as , as most bands do, but one thing that came from that break up is Fiddlehead. Along with a member of another amazing band, @basementuk
, they released their debut this year and it is so so so good. —————————————————
Undertones of loss through the voice of those affected, it hits hard. It's pure post-hardcore aggression. A coupe years ago one of my all-time favorite bands @toucheamore
put out a record called Stage Four. It was all about the vocalists mom passing from cancer. This record by Fiddlehead reminds me of that. Sonically it has its moments, but lyrically, it hits me in the same place. —————————————————
As I said, one of my criteria is that the album is a cohesive listen. While this album absolutely is, each song could be a stand alone single. Standout tracks for me are "Lay Low," "Head Hands," "My World," "Poem You," "Spousal Loss," "USMA" and "Widow in the Sunlight."
