“There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.” —Lord Byron

So here’s the thing 👉🏼 I felt amazing after my workout, I cooled down, and started stretching. I went into pigeon pose, thinking about my base building plan and future races... then I glanced down at my stomach and immediately the negativity began roaring. No matter what weight I was at, I’ve always hated my belly... specifically how it looks when I bend over. Even when I decided to take this picture, I hesitated. Maybe I should stand up more so you don’t see it all, maybe if I just show a muffin top instead... but this here is my insecurity. Notice: I’m not 🙅🏻♀️looking for compliments or tips on how to target that area to get it flat. Instead, I just want to acknowledge that I, as everyone, have insecurities, but running helps me overcome them; It rather easily allows me to focus on what I can DO and how I want to train my body in the future, not what I want it to LOOK like. If I work on my core, it’s so I can stay stabilized during long runs. If I work on my glutes, it’s to help prevent injuries. If I lose a couple of pounds, it’s to become more energy efficient. I love this body and what it lets me do and that it’s healthy, even with this belly. P.S. this isn’t to mean that I think working your 🍑 off to accomplish weight loss or physique goals is wrong— it’s just not good for me to focus on or I become obsessed and spiral a bit. 💗 Whatever makes you feel empowered instead of pressured- go towards that light ✨ 1 mile up at ~11m/m, 4 X 800m at 9:40, c/d. #run #strongnotskinny #runner #instarun #irun #runninginspiration #runnergirl #instarunner #loveyourself #fitness #bodypositive #inspiringwomenrunners #fitchick #running
It was ever a bucket list item, but now I can check the box of "ever did a half marathon" when one of those getting to know you posts start showing up again. 😍 From the girl who ran her first 5K in 47 minutes 12 years ago, don't pre judge yourself. Put in the work, believe in yourself and surround yourself with an amazing support group and you can do anything!
Listen, Honey. You can hide in your own world, not stir up any trouble, avoid drama, keep your opinions to yourself, become invisible, and someone will STILL hunt you down to hate on you and burst that bubble you built up around you. And when they do, you won’t know how to handle it. I know this from experience...
SO stop hiding. Stop putting shade on your genius, your dreams, your inspirations. Let them who will, hate; it’s their loss. Hand them some sunglasses and keep shining your light, keep telling your story, following your dreams, inspiring those who need you. Those other folks can just keep their blinds closed. This is about you anyway.💛
I could think of no BETTER pic than this. Taken at the finish of @runrocknroll #lasvegas #halfmarathon

I can honestly say I have never raced a race before where I had NOTHING left to give. I left it ALL on the strip. I thought I had let an amazing race slip through my fingers and #bonked
the second half.... Little did I know that I was going SO SO SO much faster than I thought I was (YAY for technology tricking me!) and I ended up with an AMAZING 3+ min PR despite the cold and wind...! I am SO thankful to everyone who continues to tag along on my journey... This picture is my #truth
