Today’s goal - Run a steady pace and test out my hip up the hills. I’ve had the annoying hip “niggle” the last few days so have been stretching lots. But happy that today felt pretty good without many hip issues. And bless those who have water sprinklers running this morning! I may have been the one who turned around to run through them a few times!! 🏃♀️💦Happy Friday!!

!? Actually, all of those hand signals are what’s so great about 5 at 5.
5 at 5 originally started as a way to bring people together to run 5 miles at 5 am before the start of @novemberprojectneworleans.
The pace would hover between 7:30-8:00/mile in an effort to accommodate as many people as possible.
As 5 at 5 evolved, it became more of an accountability thing. If you come out at 5 am to run, you won’t be the only one and you don’t have to run 5 miles at that pace. You can run however many miles your heart desires at whatever pace it desires.
Today I wanted to cut things down a bit. My original plan was to go from 7:40 to 7:20 to 7:00 to 6:40 to 6:20 to 6:00. After my third mile came in at 6:48, I had to adjust my plans a bit. Here are my splits from this morning’s six-mile jaunt - 7:46, 7:29, 6:48, 6:23, 5:56.
Everything felt under control and fluid. I am still confused as to what an aerobic run is and since I don’t have a heart rate monitor on my watch, I need to go by feel. If anybody can break it down for me, go ahead.
