Bali Update (11th of dec 2018):
After feeling a bit trapped in our touristic location we rented a scooter to take a trip. I have been on motorcycles before but driving a scooter here or being on the back of one is one of the most terrifying, stressful experiences of my life. It seems like nobody actually has got licenses and even kids are driving, while there appear to be no rules on the street. It’s absolut mayhem. Whilst driving through the suburbs of Ubud, trying to find our accommodation for the night we took a wrong turn, which would have meant a 15 min detour, but I saw a street coming up on google maps which we could take instead and would take us pretty much exactly where we needed to go. It started as a proper street with streetlights and everything. But soon turned into a grassy path- barely even fit for a bike let alone a scooter. But there was no turning back. And we had to continue driving down this “path” in the semi dark... But we survived- 4 days on that thing xD We ended up in Ubud which was described to me prior as a little hippie city. It turned out to be amazing. Literally food heaven, I cannot even begin to describe the fantastic culinary experiences we had but so much to be said: it gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye which I don’t think has happened to me before. We ended up finding last minute 80% reduced accommodation and ended up staying in two different resorts for a ridiculously low price one of which was an entire house with a private pool for $30 (aus, 20€) a night.
We went to the monkey forest and took a hike, on top a hill, with a breathtaking view to our feet, as well as checking out Ubud markets and haggling for our lives, alongside drinking Luwak coffee (they are monkey like animals who eat coffee beans as a treat and poop the beans out whole, which makes them taste much stronger) and petting their alive, store mascot.
We can’t really believe that we’ve already been here for over aweek. Now we’ve got another 2 days ahead of us, and can’t wait to soak the rest in.. #bali #indonesia #holiday #tropical #sacredmonkeyforest #ubud #foodporn #musician #touring #relaxed #happy
