GONDWANA CARDS || AFRICA - How many African countries have you been to?
You know I love to travel. Sadly, travel is not cheap - particularly in #Africa
. 🌍 This is something I think about often, particularly in the context of #SouthAfricans
Whenever I travel to #Joburg
I make a point of asking the staff, "Have you been to #CapeTown
?" Usually the reply is, "No. One day."
When I get to Joburg I ask the staff, "Have you been to #CapeTown
Usually the reply is, "No. One day."
[Give it a try yourself!] 😪
It’s become a fantasy of mine; IF money was no object or I could actually do something big to make #SouthAfrica
I would make African travel AFFORDABLE for locals. 🦚
& fighting for the land being such hot topics, I think it's madness that many South Africans
haven't even seen the land! Never mind the continent at large. 🧳
Compassion & empathy for #immigrants
would also improve if we could have more South Africans travelling within Africa.
What would someone from the #CapeFlats
think of #Harare
What would someone from #Mauritius
think of #Gabarone
Or someone from #Chatsworth
think of #Luderitz
On so many levels, this would make change for the better. (I often think about starting a holiday GNO that gives less fortunate families the opportunity to holiday abroad,
but WHO would support an #NGO
that gives out holidays?!). 🌴
While I'm miles away from making any of this real, here’s one small step: the #GondwanaCard
This card gives citizens of #SADC
(Southern African Development Community) 40% OFF on almost ALL of their lodges.
So, for eg, if you travel to #FishRiverCanyon
& it costs R2000 per person then it will be reduced to R1200! THAT'S HUGE❗️❗️❗️
(I know R1200 is still a lot for lower income families, but the more Africans we get travelling in Africa, the better.)

I honestly feel that making Africa more accessible for everyone can ONLY be a good thing. 🕊
