I don’t remember if “Evenflow” was Pearl Jam’s 1st single or if it was “Alive.” It’s difficult to remember which was 1st because the entire Ten album was so good. Any of those songs could have been hit singles, and I loved them all. I was really into Alternative Music in the early-mid 90’s and I’d say that Pearl Jam was the reason for that. I followed Pearl Jam for the next couple albums, Vs. and Vitalogy, which I really liked, but then I fell away from the band. It wasn’t that the music was bad or that I was disinterested, I just wasn’t paying attention. Musically I was consumed by Hip Hop in the mid to late 90’s.
This Summer I was BLESSED to see Pearl Jam in concert, 2 shows at #safecofield
, one day apart, in their hometown of #Seattle
. It’d been 26 years since I’d seen them perform at the Aladdin in Las Vegas. While I’ve seen many bands multiple times, I’ve never watched a band play back-to-back days. I knew the shows would be great, but what I saw overwhelmed me. Both shows were over 3 hours long, and to my surprise, the two shows were completely different. After almost 7 hours of music, Pearl Jam only repeated 3 or 4 songs, a testament to their extensive catalog. At the end of each night I was emotional, as I often am after good shows. I realized in those moments that I never actually fell away from Pearl Jam, they have been in the background making amazing music for almost 30 years that was, and is, just as much the soundtrack to my life as any Hip Hop has ever been. The album #ten
made me a fan but it was Pearl Jam’s “The Home Shows” concerts that made me realize I’m a fanatic. #allthingsgood #vegas #music #art #vinylwall #get2knowme #pearljam #thehomeshows #alive #evenflow
