I have a weird attraction to the surrounding area of Salton Sea, the mudane feeling felt somewhat welcoming asking me to peer into the almost non existence of life there.
It's so hazy that you can barely see the Salton Sea (California's largest lake) on the left side of this pic above the mountains. Southern California is beautiful but the air pollution is next level. 😞 Have you guys heard of the Salton Sea crisis? If you haven't, do yourself a favor and google it.
I fell in love this weekend. I went to a place where there were no rules. Where there is no agenda. Where people love you not for what you can give them but for what your soul provides. Where material possessions don't mean much but intent is everything. A place where the local children aren't scared but take you by hand and show you their treasures. I am forever changed, enlightened even. And my soul is at peace. #salvationmountain #slabcity #eastjesus #saltonsea #godislove #youreperfect #youcandothething #peace

Earlier this month I got to show some of my old favorite places to one of my new favorite people. The Salton Sea was created accidentally in 1905 and was once a desert gem surrounded by resorts. As the lake evaporates, however, its salinity increases by 3% each year. It’s surrounded by dead fish and crunchy barnacles, but it’s still beautiful in a strange sort of way. If you’re in Southern California, drive east! #saltonsea #roadtrip
The Salton Sea is becoming so toxic, the bird population is crashing at an unprecedented rate. It’s eerie but photogenic.
