⚠️ SLEEP POLL RESULTS:
Last night I asked some questions on my Instastories about night time routines, as often we as mothers feel isolated in our decisions. We are constantly comparing our way of doing things to others.
Bedtime is such a controversial topic- the good old argument about sleeping in your bed vs sleeping in theirs. And how they get to sleep- do you lie with them until they’re in dreamland or do you leave them to fall asleep 💤 on their own?
+- 200 of you voted and the results were:
65% sleep in own bed.
65% of your kiddos are NOT sleeping through the entire night with no wake ups.
67% of us are lying with our kiddos or rocking them until they fall asleep.
😴 So no one is alone. We are all in it together! And we are also all pretty exhausted 🧟♀️.

“Teaching is holy work. The building up of the intellect—teaching children to really think—does not happen by the might of human reason, but rather by the grace of God.” - Sarah Mackenzie, “Teaching From Rest”
We started term 3 today, not as smoothly as I’d hoped, but isn’t that usually the way of things? 🤷🏼♀️ . . .
Inspired by Cindy Rollins, I’ve got the girls working on nature journal entries from pictures in books during readaloud time. Naturally, Rafe didn’t want to be left out. . . .

A few things happen every weekend that make me incredibly happy:
1) every morning Soph makes a Christmas bed on the lounge floor
2) Grace and Regan take simultaneous naps which gives Sophie and I 3 hours to just hang out by ourselves
This weekend was one of those seriously precious family weekends. It was freezing cold. There were major cuddle opportunities and I had a book to finish. Now. It's Sunday evening. Hair needs to be washed, bags need to be packed and the tantrums are springing up like freaking wildfire. So I hold onto the moments that came before. The ones that are filled with cuddles and giggles and games. Because the Lord knows, my heart may be full but come Sunday night, my patience tank is running precious low.
If not, why not?
It’s not often that I get the house for myself and when it happens I make the most of it. I spent some time behind my pc, looking at some new fashion trends with #springintheair
and then decided to take a long hot bath. Whilst my water was running I decided to spoil my face 😄 I used this #apricotscrubmask
and it smells divine. Like I want to eat my face.
Tomorrow is a new week with it’s own #todolists
and challenges. Embrace those moments you have to yourself, pamper yourself and prepare yourself for the moment the little peeps return. #selflove
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We were freezing, but spring is around the corner so who is complaining? Not me.

Isn't it amazing how we can be total strangers as women but the moment we discover we are moms we get an instant connection and we can chat endlessly about our kids and the realness of #momlife
We all go through A LOT and it does so much to have another woman listen and share her own personal stories. .
Sending cyber love to all the moms out there, we might look and sound different but we have so much in common.
We are soooo excited to have partnered with gorgeous Durban brand @awethenticallyme

During these days of Hajj, I am overwhelmed by nostalgic memories from my own Hajj journey three years ago (the year of the Collapsing Crane and the Stampede in Mina). I found these two books, for kids and adults, relevant for the Hajj period.
Yan’s Hajj by Fawzia Gilani is such a heartwarming tale that explains the essence of Hajj to kids in a beautiful way. I love that Yan’s journey of Hajj started when he was a young man and only came to fruition when he was an old man. I think that’s the reality for the majority of Muslims who make the intention to embark on Hajj. It also emphasizes characteristics such as being patient, being kind, and putting the needs of others first, in order to gain closeness to our creator. The wonderful illustrations render this book a modern-day Islamic classic and it is a must-have in every home.
One Thousand Roads to Mecca: Ten Centuries of Travelers Writing About the Muslim Pilgrimage, edited by Michael Wolfe, is a compilation of 25 individual accounts of the Hajj journey spanning a thousand years. It is amazing how over this period, how much of the landscape of Makkah has changed yet how nothing of the rites of the actual pilgrimage has changed. The book is divided into five parts and arranged chronologically starting with stories from the Islamic Middle Ages (1050-1360) right until the The Jet Age Hajj (1947-2000). Writers ranging from the East and West, including the famous Moroccan traveler and scholar, Ibn Battuta, and activist Malcolm X, share their accounts of their Hajj journey, giving the reader a direct slice of history that one (especially if you have been on Hajj already) can identify with in detail. Whether you have been for Hajj or not, this is definitely worth reading. I am currently in the midst of it and really enjoying it. I got my copy of Yan’s Hajj from @suhaylakids
and my copy of One Thousand Roads to Mecca is an @amazonkindle

Lukhanyo living his best life while chasing after bugs and catching them. Swipe left to see what he caught. He looks super cute in this t-shirt from @littletribesouthafrica.

Happy birthday, darling girl. You bring so much joy to the world just by being in it. You are a precious gift from God. ❤️ . . .

Does anyone else have a dining room table with an identity crisis?
Ours wears many hats.... A bit of Saturday morning chaos. Our dining room table is such a mess. It's the craft table, the eating table, the work table, the laundry sorting station and often its just the dumping ground for flowers, flings and all the remotes. I've secretly always wanted a carefully considered home where everything is always perfect and beautiful and each piece has its place but with 2 little kiddos, chaos is inevitable.
Swipe to see a picture of Sophie being a total poser with our fresh roses 👉🏽
This is the weather that we’ve have woken up to in #mpumalanga
It has inspired me to continue with the #intentionallivingchallenge
She didn’t say it had to be 7 consecutive days, right? 😉
The theme for Day 4 is #Motivation
. The reason that this freezing, misty, wet and windy weather is my image for Motivation is that #SuperDad
and Wade have gone out on a 5km hike this morning. In this weather.
Wade, who is all of 9 years old, is a super #crosscountry
runner and all round sports nut. This year he has made up his mind that he wants to go all the way to SA Championships and his motivation, his never-give-up attitude is such an inspiration to me.
I have always tried to teach him never to give up and to see how he truly lives this motto of ours in every part of his life is incredible. He motivates me to keep going too.
Trying out the Plougman's Box from @cheeseclubsa
this weekend. First impressions? Amazing! I ordered it this morning and it was delivered to my house 3 hours later. The box is loaded with goodies, check out my stories for more. My life is changed you guys. Cheese delivered to my door! Is this heaven? 😍 🧀 🍷 😋
We’ve got our Friday faces on and we’re ready for the weekend. Bring it on! I’m looking forward to resting and getting some admin sorted out this weekend. .
We’d like to try have a family movie night with Lukhanyo again, any toddler friendly movie recommendations? The only movie he’s watched and loved is Finding Nemo.
Have a lovely weekend .

So, I've been thinking about getting a branded shirt or cap with my blog name on it. You know, to get attention and to look professional - have something that says I'm going the extra mile for my brand. The thing is, I don't know how I want my brand's look and feel to look like. Anyway, I'm going to get business cards printed from @printspace.co.za
and since I don't know what I want, I've asked Ian (the owner) to design my cards for me. It's pretty much going to a hair salon and telling the hairdresser "you can surprise me". 😂 The little input I gave is that I want a certain logo on it. In a few days, I'll get the reveal. Can't wait! #entrepreneurlife #freelancing #hustlehard #bosslady #bloggingmom #samomblogger #pblogger #SouthAfrica #momblogger #freelancewritervibes
