I've been a bit quiet on here. Slightly intentional. Needed some time away and been distracted by a challenging phase with my 5 year old. My mental energy has gone elsewhere and my physical energy has taken a nosedive. Kids are exhausting!
I had a fab PT session with @tomnashpt
today which I'm using as a "line in the sand". I'm drawing my focus back towards my #sculpting
goals with a few lessons learnt. By sculpting I mean a 6 pack. Abs. Proper abs. Why? Because I want to. Its my goal and thats what counts. However they take a lot of work and dedication.
A few weeks ago I was enjoying looking leaner around my abs but I was also loosing motivation for tracking my calories and protein. I needed a break. I continued to eat healthy but didn't track my "input" and with a 5yr old pushing boundaries my physical "output" took a slide.
In the past I would beat myself up about times like these, thinking that I'd never reach my goals and that I wasn't good enough for them. However this time I've use this time wisely and learnt from it. I've enjoyed some early nights. I've reflected that exercise is a great balancer for me. It offers me clarity and calm and the chance for me time. Tracking calories isn't a ball and chain its a way of ensuring I'm feeding my body what it needs to continue to be awesome. If I'm building muscle I need to give it the fuel to do that.
During my #PT
session today I was doing incline chest presses. During every round I pushed a little bit more through the reps and pushing towards a fitness goal is a bit like that. Everytime you work towards it, you learn, progress and change yourself.
From today, I'm planning on returning to my focus of building muscle. I've prepped tomorrows breakfast, made my protein shake, a protein packed lunch and have planned my evening meal. One day at a time. The great thing about habits is that even if you do take a break they are sat there ready and waiting for you on your return.
