Today was the Last First Day of Class ... in honor of that milestone I want to share some of the biggest things I have learned during college:
1. You don’t have to be qualified for what the Lord has calls you to, you just have to dare to say yes
2. Pursing the Lord’s will for your life can be hard. If it was easy everyone would do it but you aren’t alone and it’s always worth it!
3. Quality friends matter more than quantity. Some friends come in seasons, love those people and be ready for the new friends when they come.
4. You are more than your grades. While grades are important, intentional friendships and pursuit of the Lord are just as vital.
5. The Lord will not call you to something he hasn’t been equipping you for, even if you don’t see the skill set in the moment.
College has taught me so many things and introduced me to some amazing people, some for a season and others for life. I chose this picture because this was one of my favorite pictures @thaliavillarosa
took all summer. While nothing crazy, for me it represents true joy and what it looks like to unapologetically embrace the season the Lord placed me in. Camp will always hold a special place in my heart for not only the friendships but the growth that I experienced that summer.
It takes time to grow🌱
Whether we are growing a meditation practice, a career, or personal or health goal, it’s important to remind ourselves that it takes time to grow🌱
The seasons slowly change the trees, and each day there is a small evolution. We may not notice these subtle changes, unless we slow down and take the time to observe. When we rush, we may notice when the tree loses its leaves, and when flowers start to bloom, but we fail to see the slow steady changes occurring each moment contributing to these larger transformations. Only when we slow down and become present, will we have the opportunity to notice the evolution around us and within us. As you begin your Monday morning routine, I invite you to slow down and observe this very moment, perhaps as your enjoy your favourite morning beverage☕️
Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us to ‘Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future; live the actual moment. Only this moment is life.’✨
I invite you to sit comfortably✨
Slowing down, embracing your cup in your hands✨
Notice the sensations of the cup, the weight, the temperature, the texture✨
Perhaps you can begin to smell the aroma✨
Take a slow inhale in, and exhale out, as you appreciate the smell and warmth provided by your beverage of choice✨
Slowly sip your warm drink and notice the sensations in your mouth✨
Perhaps you notice the temperature on your tongue, the flavours✨
slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future; live the actual moment✨
Only this moment is life✨
Enjoy your beautiful Monday, friends, one moment at a time❤️
I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time letting go of paper... notebooks and notepads! Although I have everything I need on my iPhone, i am constantly falling in love with more paper 📝- what about you? How do you keep tasks/notes ? What’s your app of choice? 📚
