I remember years ago when a lady told me that if I wanted really intelligent babies in the future to make sure I supplement with iodine during pregnancy/breastfeeding
Iodine supports: Thryoid health( component of hormones produced by thyroid), hormonal health--healthy management of estrogen,
ovarian health, breast health (lots of interesting studies on iodine consumption and breast cancer-I've linked some in my blog post), prostate health, neurological development, IQ ..brain health, detoxification, etc
In order to get more iodine in my diet daily i like to use dulse or kelp graules in place of salt. I also love seaweed!
1 tsp of the kelp granules pictured supplies over 970% of the RDA for iodine. I use just a sprinkle to flavor my meals. Other sea veggies, cranberries, potatoes with skin, grass fed butter, cheese are also good sources of iodine.
