When I was five years old, I remember a little girl asking me what my favorite movie was. I told her that it was Care Bears II: A New Generation, a movie I still love to this day. Her response? "That's a stupid movie. You're an idiot." When I was in grade school, I got similar reactions when I told people my favorite singer was Michael Jackson, or in middle school when my favorite band was S Club 7, or in high school for just about everything. As such, I really stopped trying to relate to people at some point. I've never been very good at making friends because I'm so afraid of people. I'm afraid they'll mock everything I love and everything that makes me me. So, these days, I just wait for people to come to me and hope they don't turn tail and run when they get to know me.
