I heard on the radio that it was supposedly the most depressing day of the year today. This was around 8am. It was still dark out when I was on the way to work. The weather was dull. It was pouring. It still is. With that being said, let me tell you a pleasant story.
I took this photo on my first outing with my then new camera. I got my camera for my 17th birthday (thanks Mum, thanks Papa). I was clueless. I mean, I just pointed and shot. But to this day it’s one of my favourite photos that I’ve taken. The balloon got lost from it’s owner who found it shortly after this was taken. I could’ve easily missed this shot. My mum had talked about getting some of my photos on canvas to put up at home. She really loved this one. It’s her desktop wallpaper at work! We’d discussed doing this for years. It just never happened. Fast forward to 2017. We were getting the house ready for my grandma’s visit from India. I came home from work one day to see this photo up on the wall in the living room. I had to check myself. It may seem like a little thing, but it meant a lot. I love surprises. She got me!
