NAME: Oliver Marshall (@oliviermarshall )
AGE: 28 apparently.. HOMETOWN: Yorkshire though to the untrained ear this isn't obvious... TRAINING: University of Warwick - History
@royalacademyofmusic - Musical Theatre
FAVOURITE ROLE YOU HAVE PERFORMED: Funny enough this is a part I did at school, rather than professional. I was 18 and it was Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. The wonder of school is you get to play people who are way out out your age and casting bracket so you can be wonderfully creative. Our new head of drama hated musicals so it wasn't the most traditional version of the show. The highlight was definintly changing onstage into a emerald ball gown in the song 'I'm an Ordinary Man' when Higgins is determined to never let a woman in his life.
DREAM ROLE NOW & IN 5 YEARS: I don't really dream about these things nor make 5 year plans! every role has something for you to take away from and can suprise you!
YOUR IDOL: I've got a few for all sorts of reasons... for today Glenn Close, Kenneth Williams and a movement director called Alex Reynolds. I worked with her on only a commercial for a couple of weeks but I learnt so much about my craft and she had this openness that puts you at ease and really gets results!
THE ACHIEVEMENT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF: The ad for John Lewis was pretty cool, but in terms of pride it was performing in Titanic the Musical, particularly when we were doing the show at the Hamburg Staatsoper. I'd trained classically in singing and had done some operas in University and after, so it was a weird and wonderful way of the two (opera and musical theatre) coming together. I could only have imagined performing at an opera house, never mind doing a musical in one! plus I love Germany and Hamburg was a great place to spend 2 weeks.
A PIECE OF MUSIC EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO RIGHT NOW:
I'm going classical....Beethoven Late String Quartets or the Piano and Trumpet Concerto by Shostakovich.
When was the last time you were THIS EXCITED for food? I'd drooled over photos of @nosteagia 's bubble waffles on Insta and found myself doing the same when I saw them in real life! I tried their special in @boxpark on Saturday and the CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM with chocolate sauce was amazing! I wasn't so convinced by the waffle itself though - it was a bit bland/airy. I'd recommend their ice creams and bubble teas 😍
This means a lot to me, since my first ever shoot was only 17months ago, that’s when I’ve decided to start doing photography on my little free time available. Definitely need to free up more time for this amazing art called Photography. #blessed
