Thrilled to launch terraflamma.org, a website dedicated to my ongoing Terra Flamma project documenting wildfires in California and beyond (link in bio)! When I launched Palley Creative last week I mentioned an announcement related to Terra Flamma was on it’s way, and here it is! I’ve created a site that takes the images I’ve made and expands on them featuring writing, video, interactive maps, and a print store! There is a behind the scenes video from 2017, an interactive map of virtually every fire I’ve photographed in California, in addition to extended background, a blog, and more. I’ll still be posting here on Instagram throughout fire season, but the site is a way for me to expand on the writing I’ve been doing and to also provide a dedicated home to share the art I’ve spent six long fire seasons creating.
If you’re interested in my expanded takes on wildfires, climate, or interested in purchasing a Terra Flamma print that will help fund my ongoing wildfire work (and upcoming photography exhibit) check it out! In the next week you’ll also be able to purchase images from the project directly through Instagram!
A portion of proceeds from all print sales from the Terra Flamma project will be donated to a wildland fire foundation/charity each year.
Image is of the Georges Fire last week seen from the Manzanar internment camp where Americans of Japanese heritage were forced to relocate to during WW2. A shameful period in American history with eerie parallels today, but it helps to put the fire in it’s geographic context near the town of Lone Pine in the Eastern Sierras near Mount Whitney.
Thanks all for your ongoing support and see you on the fire line! - SP
