The beautiful thing about mindfulness is that you can coordinate words or phrases with your breathing, and this is an effective tool for grounding yourself in the moment, and that’s one of the most important things because your entire life is lived in the now.
Have you ever been an observer of your own eyes? With no judgement, have you ever followed your attention behind what your eyes want to focus on?
I tried this exercise last night to realize I am people-focused, I appreciate deep eye contact that allows me to be seen, to deeply see them, to be connected and appreciated, to connect and to appreciate them, I see and want to play with people’s pure childlike energy before I see their beautiful outer shells that house their souls.
I see people for their gifts they withhold, and for the gifts they openly share. I see people for their love they have inside of them- sometimes I see it suppressed and they hold onto it tight protecting it, and sometimes I see it overflowing in abundance; and regardless the infinite amount of love and potential that each human carries within their hearts are there and my eyes choose to see that.
Putting attention into where my gaze falls also turned on my awareness to notice what I often choose not to see over what I naturally choose to focus on. The details of the carpet, the way little dust falls on book shelves, the expression on a cute piggy bank. I became present and one with my surroundings. I became one with all.
Then an overwhelming amount of gratitude came over me- as I thank my ability to take in so much through this sense of sight. I feel so grateful all the time that I can see. When I see things, I know that that visual memory gets stored somewhere in my cells, my neurons, my body, my soul, my heart and one day it gets alchemized into thoughts, writing, painting, hugs, spoken words, my energy, my aura, my love.
And I also know that it is not what I see but the lense I choose to see what I see. The intention and attention behind what I choose to take in visually and I get to translate it back into the world with a touch of my soul.
I am feeling immense amount of love and gratitude today- and thankful that is the mirror that I see myself in today. I am grateful for my eyes for bringing so much goodness into my visual space today. I am excited to know what all amazing things my eyes will choose to take in for me today.
For one minute, walk outside, sit there in silence, look up at the sky & contemplate how amazing life is. ☁️ ⛰. •
