Spoken History (Ghair Sarkari Tareekh) in Oldtown with Ahsan Abid under Post Partition category of interviewes. He was interviewed by Fatima Jafar for (Ghair Sarkari Tareekh) GST - Summer Internship Program 2018
Ahsan Abid is 18 years old, he was our youngest interviewee. He has been working in the area of Pakistan Chowk for the last two years. His grandfather and father had previously lived within the area where their travel agency is located. He talked quite extensively about the traffic problems associated with working within the area of old town. He insisted that there should be regulation wherein renovation of old buildings within the area must be allowed for increased commercialization, which has been beneficial. Ahsan also emphasised that it would, in his opinion, be good for the area if the old building was demolished and a plaza was built in its place, he did not regard preserving heritage as a priority.

Spoken History (Ghair Sarkari Tareekh) GST in Oldtown is a project of collecting narratives of the residents of the area, who lived through 1947 Partition (The Migration of millions of people) for scholars and future generations, who want to know the past of the area.
These narratives will define the Old Town in social context, it's demographics and history. • To understand the transformation of the old town over time. • To use the lived experiences of people as the primary source of historical events. • To realize that in order to understand and fix the problems of the future we need to work our way back and understand our past.
