A new joiner to the selection of food at Tampines Mall is Makanista, a lively dining space that boasts unique takes on local delights alongside traditional hawker favourites. Chicken rice here comes with options of combo meals in Single ($8.50), Duo ($16.50), Trio ($23.90) & Quartet ($29.90). Choose from Hainanese, Roasted, Thai or Mala for the chicken. Mala makes for an interesting option to go with the tender meat, with the Sichuan-style paste made from a blend of chillies, garlic, black vinegar, oil and sweet sauce.
Making sense of the price, the meals come with drinks, ramen egg, and sides like bean sprouts, veg in oyster sauce & tahu goreng, corresponding to set size. House-made sauces are also available!

Makan is Malay for "To Eat" & Makanista is a new 2800 sq ft (approx 130 seater) enclave in the East, more specifically @TampinesMall offering local delights & western staples... & more!
Aiming to be modern & trendy like how its name suggests, expect Speciality Prata such as the Okonomiyaki Prata ($7) & Mutton Prata Burger ($8.5); the latter a Prata with a tender + well-seasoned Mutton Patty wrapped within! Oso got hooked on their dessert range, in particular the Peanut Butter & Jam Prata ($2.8) which I very very reluctantly... shared with the rest!
Other traditions with a twist includes their Yong Tau Foo with 5 different Soup Bases (Ayam Soto / Mee Siam / Satay / Curry; All $7.5) & Chicken Rice with 4 doneness to choose from; Hainanese / Roasted / Thai / Mala (former 2 $5.5 / latter 2 $5.8).
However, in frame's the combo meal for the 🐔Rice inspired by the Javanese Nasi Ambeng; comes served on a ceramic ratten dulang with 4 sizes available: Single ($8.5) / Duo (As Shown; $16.5) / Trio ($23.9) / Quarter ($29.9). Combo comes with choice of 🐔, Soft Drink, Japanese-inspired Soft-centred Ramen Egg & sides like Vegetables in Oyster Sauce & Tahu Goreng (As Shown; with number of sides corresponding to set size).
That said, the Mala 🐔 takes inspiration from traditional Szechuan 口水鸡; the meat is poached with spicy chili oil sauce for an ultra tender bit. That said, their rice is fragrant much & I love their chill sauce too; do you guys prefer Ginger, Chilli or Dark Soya Sauce with your 🐔🐔🍚?

Meaning ‘9th Generation’ in Japanese, ‘Kyudaime’ refers to Kamo Soba Keisuke being his 9th Ramen Concept. The other stalwart brands (a total of 13) under his belt includes Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King, Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei & Ginza Tendon Itsuki!
Already established in Ginza, Toyko, since 2015, Kamo Soba Keisuke literally translates to ‘Duck Ramen Keisuke’. Though duck is not a common item seen in Japanese cuisine, Chef Keisuke picked this bird as his new muse as it is ubiquitous in French cuisine which he is formally trained in.
The local branch is the 1st Keisuke restaurant in the West & offers 5 ramen choices including 2 variations of Duck Broth (Rich or Clear), Spicy Miso, Tsukemen aka Dipping Noodles & Mazesoba aka Dry ramen. All served with slices of premium Irish Hybrid Duck which is favoured for its ample fat, customers will find 5 Ramen bowls which are topped with luscious slices of the bird which is first grilled to give its skin a nice char b4 marination in Chef Keisuke’s special Shoyu. It's then steamed @ precisely 65°C
so the meat retains a juicy & tender bite with just the right amount of melt-in-the-mouth fat.
4 of the ramen options are served in or with soup & customers have the choice to top each off with a
Marinated Soft Centred Egg or up-sized as a ‘Special’ which includes Seaweed, an Egg, 2 slices of Duck & 2 Yuzu Duck Meatballs.
Rice lovers can still relish their signature duck by ordering the Kamo Ju ($29.90), a Rice
Bento draped with 10 pieces of Duck; served with Japanese Pickles & Miso Soup. Prices for their Hybrid Duck Ramen starts from $14.90 & the restaurant operates on the 2nd level of a 3-storey shophouse with plans to transform the uppermost floor into a Japanese Rooftop Garden Bar soon!
