Retinol products. If there was one product I wish I would have learned about 10 years ago – it was Vitamin A in skincare. Whether retinol or retinaldehyde or Retin-A – I knew nothing about this ingredient even as recent as 2 years ago. Neither I knew anything about acids ( another big
🔺Vitamin A key benefits for skin include:
. 🔸stimulate cell turnover thus helps to unclog pores and improve skin texture 🔸enhance collagen production which in turn helps with fine lines and wrinkles reduction 🔸blocks formation of melanin pigment and thus evens out skin tone
This is all great, but it is also well known that it can be irritating, skin sensitizing and hard to adjust to ingredient ( some never adjust to it), so I was not brave enough to start with straight Vitamin A product and decided to go baby steps starting with retinol. I also think my skin is in a very good condition and thus I have the time and possibility to start slow and build it up.
🔺RETINOL. Retinol is first converted to retinaldehyde and then retinoic acid, which is the ingredients that do all the wonders for the skin.Perhaps only 10% of it actually will penetrate into the skin and do the anti-ageing job.
🔺RETINAL. After using retinol, I will move to retinaldehyde (retinal) product– less studied ingredient, but stronger than retinol as only needs 1 conversion step before becoming retinoic acid. Essentially this should be more effective and provide for faster results while still being gentler than tretinoin.
Back to retinol. I believe even if it works slower and with much less potency, it is good to have some sort of form and shape of retinol product in my skincare routine. I started with the ones from #paulaschoice
as this is the brand I get most of my actives from and I think they have very good choices when it comes to
retinol. My thoughts on these 2 products👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Sunlight wasn't the best yesterday but oh well 🤷🏻♀️
Eradikate line is geared towards those with acne. I have yet to try the acne treatment but I have tried the others.
The cleanser is surprisingly non-stripping. My skin doesn't feel right after a rinse off. I called it "spicy" the first time I tried it because it does have sulfur in it.
The mask is interesting. An opaque cream that when rubbed in starts to bubble and foam. Definitely isn't as messy as other foam masks out there. I feel like it didn't do much except feel weird but I don't have any stand out pimples right now.
The salicylic acne treatment is by far my favorite of the bunch and definitely a standout. It contains 2% SA, retinol and tea tree oil. I feel like my closed comedones have either shrunk or come to a head while using it. I also have a persistent cystic zit that has magically shrunk by 40% already. I'm sold.
Got this organic Tumeric & Neem cleanser and lip balm from @butteredup_organics
at the new @bellarussestore
in westmall. (I literally just went to browse but...... 😂) Btw;
1. The lip balm is bomb! 😍😍 I love the feel of it and my lips are actually moisturized 👍🏼👍🏼 Oh and when used after my @sephora
honey lip scrub....my lips are so incredibly soft! Yessss
2.So far, the cleanser feels really great on the skin and rinses clean. No oily residue left behind which is an issue I had with another tumeric & neem cleanser I tried.
Let's see if it can improve the hormonal acne I've been battling lately 😢 I have high hopes! .. #buylocal #organic #crueltyfree #natural #trinidad #beauty #skincareobsessed #skincarereview #skinisin
The No. 3 Balancing Collection is my arsenal for CLEARER + SMOOTHER SKIN ! The kaolin clay and charcoal powder in the Facial Mask , for example , quickly works to absorb excess oil and impurities while giving a more polished appearance to the skin. 🙌🏼 Even though I have customers with different skin types use some or all of these products , this collection is specifically targeted for oily + acne prone skin since it has the ability to refine, calm, and balance the skin. ✨
This is even great for MEN! 🙋🏼♂️ My husband had a little breakout show through this morning on his face so I pampered him with a mini facial from this spa set , which he LOVED! 😉 ✨
I can’t say enough about this amazing collection! Each product has its own unique benefit to the skin, but even more effective when used together . This Balancing Collection also comes in a mini spa set (half the size !) , which makes it travel friendly! ✈️
Ask yourself what you need each day, and then make sure you receive it✨
You need to spend time with your skin! Set 10 mins aside to analyze and nourish your skin. Do not wash your face with cheap bar soap and slab some body lotion on your face and expect results. Your skin will tell you what it needs. You just need to make the time. You deserve the skin you’ve always dreamt of

Are you cleaning more than skin deep?
I used to be really into makeup. I still am, but when I first started to learn about makeup I was obsessed. I always used makeup to help myself look a little more awake and definitely to cover any skin sins!
I really got into makeup my sophomore year of college, when I took a stage makeup class. That really changed things for me and I found that I was pretty good at it!
But artistry aside, I found myself relying more and more on makeup as a way to cover myself and my insecurities up. I didn't want to be seen without makeup , I didn't like how I looked without it, especially my skin.
I think this naturally led to me stumbling into some skincare concepts. And while I was learning a little more about skincare I was still piling on the foundation, primer, powder, bronzer and blush, until my somewhat normal skin revolted against my makeup slathering ways and erupted dozens and dozens of clogged pores all over my face.
I started to dig further into skincare and learned about double cleansing. This was a revelation for me. Not only did my skin start to clear up but eventually my skin started to look better than it ever did. I was hooked, and I started to do more and more with this skincare thing.
And then I started to wear lighter makeup and started to feel more confident with less on my face. No more gym makeup. No more elaborate makeup to just step outside my house.
When I learned to really take off my makeup, take care of my skin, I learned confidence and how to really value myself.
So, is your skincare going more than skin deep?

🍊I’m head over heels for Vitamin C 😍
🍊Not a single other ingredient has come close to reducing my PIE (which thanks to @gothamista
, I now know is the more accurate term for those dark spots left behind post-breakout!).
🍊I used #SundayRiley
CEO for a few months and was totally in love with it. CEO uses THD Ascorbate as their form of Vitamin C, and claims it is “the gold standard of vitamin c” since it penetrates the lipid barrier more easily. My dark spots reduced significantly during the time I used CEO. But when I ran out, I took a break from vitamin C since I wasn’t quite ready to shell out money for it.
🍊Coincidentally, I got a lot of break outs around that time which led to so much PIE and I was really missing Vitamin c in my routine. Many of you convinced me to try a sample of #DrunkElephant
C-Firma to see how it compares to CEO!
🍊C-Firma uses L-ascorbic Acid, which is the most commonly seen version of Vitamin c in skincare. Paula’s Choice states that they only use L-ascorbic acid in their vitamin c because it’s the most researched form of vitamin c, which is a fair point.
🍊C-Firma comes out as a transparent orangey Liquid, versus CEO which is white and slightly more creamy than C-firma. Drunk Elephant says that this serum pairs great when mixed with B-Hydra. And considering I don’t love B-Hydra’s texture alone, I took DE up on that offer. And I have to say, they make a fantastic duo! Applied on its own, C-Firma has a somewhat sticky finish (similar to CEO). However, when mixed with B-Hydra, the texture is luxuriously smooth and seems to absorb much more quickly.
🍊I was a bit worried about potentially diluting the Vitamin C by mixing with B-Hydra, but it doesn’t seem to make it any less effective. In only a week of using it, I’ve noticed significant lightening of my PIE.
🍊At this point I don’t know if I have a major preference between C-Firma and CEO and I’m not sure if I ever will. I’ve seen quick and noticeable results while using both of them. I’ll definitely purchase the full size of C-Firma so I can continue using it for a while!
🍊What’s your favorite vitamin C serum?
Smooth and hydrate your skin with Juva's Brightening Enahncer, our light and versatile mist. A few sprays creates a perfect canvas for make-up (or a glowy, make-up free day)!
I find this really interesting. I have worked with my local CPA firm for 4 years. I have had 1 raise and that was only because I was going to quit and go somewhere else. Another gal in our office got a .50 raise and would get another .50 raise in the next 6 months if she maintained XYZ. What if you could actually get paid for the effort you put forth? Now some in this avenue don’t put forth the effort and wonder why they aren’t making money and are convinced that this isn’t profitable...well those people are probably meant to be chained to a boss and a desk forever. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I value my time and know there are better opportunities out there than being an undervalued employee. Who’s with me? Who also feels that they are worth more than there employer values them at? Who dreads the daily grind? Today I’ll be working from the pool. Where will you be working from?
On my story last weekend I asked: what's the most overrated skincare product you've tried? Last night I recorded the 200+ responses and tallied up the most popular answers. And they are:
1. La mer with 11 responses
2. Sunday Riley Luna with 9 responses
3, 4, 5, & 6. Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum, Glamglow, & Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray with 8 responses each
7 & 8. Glossier Solution & Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser with 7 responses each
9. Pixi Glow Tonic with 6 responses
10. Glow Recipe Watermelon Mask with 5 responses
As you can see from the list, two brands made the most unpopular list (La Mer and Glamglow.) But I also found it interesting to tally up the brands most mentioned most often (ie specific products from them were mentioned, not the brand itself as is the case for La Mer and Glamglow.) Glossier won with a total of 26 responses, in second place is Drunk Elephant with 19, and the bronze goes to Sunday Riley with 15.
Skincare is very personal so I'm not all that surprised that some community favorites are also some of the most overrated products from this small poll. The more hype a product gets, the higher our expectations are! The only product I was truly surprised to see on the list was the Drunk Elephant C-Firma serum because it's such a solid favorite for me 😂 I was also surprised that May Lindstrom and Vitner's Daughter only popped up twice each! Because of their extreme luxury price tag, I would have thought more people would find them overhyped. Then again, because of the price less people have tried them (including me.) What's your take on the list?
PS I shared another poll on my story-- this time on products that lived up to the hype!
A little nightly routine 💁♂️🌙
• Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm by Elemis
• The Moisturizing Soft Cream by La Mer, which is almost finished ☹️. Should I try their gel cream next?
• Lash Boost by Rodan + Fields*
I’m finally starting to see results, with no wonky eye or lash enhancing side effects in sight 😂
*knocks on wood 😬*
Thus far, I’m digging it sooo hard! @boymomnicolemcochran
• Redermic R for the face and eyes by La Roche-Posay
• Fluido Protettivo Advanced Eye Lift by Borghese
What’s your current go-to nightly staple? 🤔 I need to know! 😭
Are you deep pore cleansing? This creamy sea mud mask uses Kaolin Clay, Seaweed, and Allantoin to deep cleanse pores, absorb excess oil, and reduce the appearance of shine.

🎀Qué efectos he notado en mi piel?
📌Tono más uniforme.
📌Manchas más difuminadas.
📌Textura más lisa y homogénea.

skincare sale, I usually don’t buy skincare from drugstore because you can’t get samples, as I have sensitive skin even which products claims to be good for sensitive skin my skin will react to those. This time I took little risk and bought these products and m glad I did. I been using it since then. Need to use a little more to give my final thoughts but so far m really liking the way these products makes my skin feel ☺️ . Have you tried anything from @drlewinns
