Didn’t realize I had my Fitbit set on run and not workout, but it’s interesting to see how far I could’ve run during the workout. Healthy and happy Is what it's all about. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My favourite reminder.... Extremes are easy, balance is sometimes hard. ⁣ ⁣ However, the most important weight or Goal to always looking and feeling great from the inside out, is to learn to live a healthy active lifestyle that you can maintain and your actually happy too ❤️⁣ ⁣ Drop trying to get quick fast results for weight loss or growing muscle - as these are generally not sustainable and will only lead you to feeling frustrated with results that you can’t and won’t keep long term. ⁣ ⁣ Instead, work on daily healthy habits that you can maintain as a lifestyle, while still enjoying life pleasures. ⁣ ⁣ It’s taken me quite a few years after years of competing in fitness bodybuilding, to finally find my happy balanced lifestyle - where I realise I don’t need to be shredded, and always tracking calories and have abs 24/7. ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes when you are constantly working towards smashing out goals, you forget that maintenance is actually a goal too! ❤️❤️
Liam has been napping all morning!! 👍 which makes me wonder how this evening is going to go 🧐🤔 . . took advantage of the rare free time and got some longer core rehab work in (thanks @ericaziel 💓) and more sun As than usual.. heavily modified sun As. I’ve been personally documenting my ‘back to pre-baby practice’ journey and wasn’t going to post this because it isn’t fancy, “full expression” or particularly strong, but i think it’s important to- for me, for other moms recovering. these sun As are my current practice in which I’m building my strength back up (chatty pushups) and working to regain flexibility (skipped up dog, bent knees in fwd fold and half lift). I went from not being able to walk, for a day or so, to these modified sun As in five weeks. I felt like I’d never fold forward again, let alone make my way into a down dog- but I’m making progress!! I’m slowly making my way back to a ‘normal’ sun salutation A and soon adding in some iteration of a sun B 🤞☀️ and I’m so excited for these little steps made and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead!! I just need to remember to be patient and stay persistent. . . do your practice and all is coming 🙏🏼🕉

Confession: I ate a cookie today! 🙄 Okay, I ate 3! 🤓 #notashamed I usually fall into guilt when I slip, and it usually leads to worse transgressions...for days/weeks. So now I have this great idea! I’m going to start sharing my bad and #goodchoices with you guys. This isn’t to shame myself (hell nah!) I realize that life is to be lived, and that I will on occasion make a choice that is yummy but outside of what benefits my body. While I’m not proud of my bad choice, I’m okay with being human. I’m getting right back on the wagon, forgiving and loving myself - mistakes and all. Plus, I’ll push extra hard in the gym tonight to make up for the #badchoices . If any of my @compelfitness @goldsgymbowiemd trainers see this post before my session tonight, I’m sure they’ll make sure I do too! 😂 Having said all that, I know I am a compulsive sugar head. One cookie could have easily turned into the whole packet. So having you (my public diary) as my #accountability system could be what keeps away from taking things too far and beyond moderation. Who knows? 🤷🏾‍♀️ It’s worth trying, because I figure that if I remember that my transgressions will be fessed up to later in a post, I just might become discouraged from doing the bad deed or keeping it to a limit instead. After all, confessing that I ate 3 cookies is much less alarming than confessing I ate 18. 😂 This could also motivate me to share my good choices instead (as positive affirmation). This was such a lovely weekend. I was desperate to get out of my normal environment; to feel like an adult again; to stop being the “ill person”; to have time for just the two of us. It was cold and windy and cosy and wonderful. Nature always works it magic. What a difference a year makes... Third year medic. Lost a colon; gained a stoma. Gained a J-pouch and some more scars, but lost the feeling in my leg. Went lovely places; did lovely things; met lovely people. Found a Love; lost a Love. Found myself. Still a third year medic. And what have I learnt? Never underestimate the power of nature to heal.
Sometimes I get discouraged that I’m not at my goal weight - I’ve been about 10 pounds away for 7 months... at my lowest weight I was 4 pounds from goal and that was the beginning of last April. I lost 10 pounds between last January and March. What you don’t know is that I lost that weight because I was super depressed. That’s not really the ideal way to lose weight, it’s not fun. What you might know is that last April I started working out at @fitboxworkout and it’s literally changed my life. Finding a workout that I enjoy and building relationships with people there has certainly helped me keep my mood stable. My weight has also been pretty stable through many work trips and nights in hotels. Now I’m home for 6 weeks and am ready to fully commit to both working out and my @ww plan. I love the way my body feels now and what I’m capable of doing - I even appreciate it. That’s not to say that I’m 100% confident or there aren’t parts of my body I want to change or don’t love. I just need to remember that maintenance is impressive and important just as much as continuous losses. Good Morning and Hello to my 4 SP breakfast! I am definitely not a chef and this is not the prettiest plate, but let me tell you how much I love these oatmeal, egg and banana pancakes! The texture is a little dense, but I am sure you could add some baking powder to lighten them up. My mom use to always make these and still does. They are here low point go to. So, how did I make these? 1/4 of uncooked oatmeal - 2SP 1/2 of a Medium banana- zero ( I am sure you can add more, I was just kind of going by the texture of the mix) 1 egg Dash of salt and a splash of vanilla. I used non stick spray and they cooked up so lovely for me, which is a surprise because I’m not the best pancake maker. The turkey sausage is banquet- 2 Sp Egg- zero And I just warmed the raspberries up in the microwave and poured them over. Progress.... I should remind everyone that weight is just weight and shouldn't determine how you feel about yourself. That being said I am a confident person and any weight. For me my journey is to feel better and feel healthy. I want to feel strong. I'm predisposed to a handful of health issues that are totally complicated, influenced, and associated by excessive weight. Which is why it is a focus for me. It does not define me. As I mentioned before I dont handle stress well. I hit my highest weight ever. My knees hurt, my skin hurt, I didn't feel good. So I decided enough was enough. I will make it a goal to never see 260lbs on that scale again. I determined that 3 weeks ago. I decided to embark on this journey gradually and healthy. No quick fixes. Just hard work. Ive been being more mindful about my foods. Less take out. But still enjoying food. I've had pizza and carbs, I had chocolate and candy and endulged on set days. I do not want to make myself miserable. I want to enjoy life as well as this journey. I set a 2lb a week goal. Guess what.
