Oh my gosh this bird - ahem, I mean yarn! If you’ve been waiting for indigo, there’s a sprinkle of DK weight skeins in the shop and they have lovely variations. I will steal for myself if I have to!!
There’s been plenty of knitting going on in the past week for the #breezemakingstorieskal
with both new projects being cast on and other growing! Seeing all the progress being made has us itching to cast on our own projects, but for now we’ve been enjoying taking part in the chatter threads over on Ravelry - discussing things from knitting with linen, to sock construction to mindfulness in our knitting and making. If you’re planning on casting on a project from the collection do make sure to pop over there and join us!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Also, if you’d like a chance to win a copy of BREEZE, make sure to keep an eye on this hashtag #breezemakingstorieskal
as our ambassadors have begun sharing their giveaway copies with the knitting community!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

who blew us away with her excellent color choice for the Joran Top!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There is only one more week left in our Lucca Scarf KAL! Thank you so much to those who have been participating. We will choose prize winners on June 1. You don’t have to have a finished object to be eligible, simply post a photo to Instagram with #luccascarfKAL
or comment in our Ravelry group. Kits are available in our online store. See the first Lucca Scarf KAL post for all of the KAL details. Thank you @debsannes
for another beautiful photo.
Hooray for nettles!!! 🌿 I’m starting a late afternoon dyebath using stinging nettles freshly harvested from the field behind our town vegetable garden plot. I’ll simmer it for awhile this evening, then let it steep overnight before straining and adding my fibres tomorrow. What’s going in? Two silk scarves, two skeins of mohair-wool yarn and a square of wool cloth. Last year when I dyed with nettles it was from plants harvested in summer and the colour was a rich green-brown. @sugarhouseworkshop
posted a lovely, lighter green that she got on cloth recently and I’m hoping to achieve something closer to that, as this time I’m using new Spring growth. 💚 See that blue sky reflecting on the water? Wish you could hear the windchimes that hang nearby, too. It’s peaceful on the deck (newly painted this past holiday weekend, in the colourway “champignon sauvage” - a fitting backdrop for wild harvesting dye adventures 😊 ) I’m staying on the deck for as long as I can, because just inside the door it’s a different scene. There’s the sound of the giant fan-dehumidifier humming in the basement because of the great plumbing disaster/adventure that has entered our lives in the last 24 hours, and there’s the medication on the counter that we just got prescribed for my son’s eye infection at the children’s hospital this afternoon. Sigh. This was going to be field trip day for my daughter and me, a journey to Cantley, QC, to help with the shearing at Rock’s End Farm (where beautiful Icelandic sheep dwell). But that’s ok, life tweaks your plans a bit sometimes 😝 At least both boy and basement are healing, and the garden’s growing and the sun is warm, and the nettles are losing their sting... #rocksendfarm #icelandicwool #canadiansheep #stingingnettle #naturaldye #naturaldyersofinstagram #canadiandyer #slowfashion #slowfashionmovement #slowknitting
Medium Project Bags fit all your 2 skein projects and your pattern. Who wants their shawl pattern not with their project? Keep it all together. A place for everything and everything in its place. How much do you love this lining?! It’s a favorite!
The reality is that I’ve not felt like knitting for almost two months (which is VERY abnormal for me). But this #hanamishawl
pattern by @yumirumiknits
has me fired up and moving along quite nicely. There is still one kit left in the shop available - click the link in bio! 👆

👀 sneak preview of some exclusive colorways that will be available in limited quantities for the shop update this Sunday (7pm CST) 🙌🏻 in no particular order because I think it’s fun when you all guess: Bellatrix, Exploding Bonbons, Pensieve, Wizards Chess, Skeeter, The Burrow, Dolores, Hedwig, Weasley, The Car 🚙 whose excited!?! 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
Think you can guess what might be on the horizon with just this image??
Frogging a project in real time using my yarn winder #bestpresentever
I’ve been reading Slow Knitting by Hannah Theisen and had the courage to frog this because I knew the yarn wasn’t doing the pattern justice. I think it would look better in something with little stripes; Breathing Space by Veera Välimäki, perhaps?
Also found the courage/empowerment/permission to destash yarn. Swipe for those looking for more loving homes.

You know you’re making good progress when your ball of yarn is getting smaller and it’s time to extend your cord!

Summertime is my season for dreaming. Even though the work doesn’t slow down in knitting’s”off-season”, I strive to find time between work hours to rediscover and pair up little stash plans. I’ve had this lovely wool from my first Rhinebeck for awhile, and it hasn’t told me what it wants to become yet. These newly arrived, cow horn buttons are a gift from @handspunhope
that begged to be paired with this yarn. Sometimes, the project crafts itself over time, with the notions and structures and plans almost outlining themselves before our fingers can get around to the knitting.
Whew. I am not ready for Monday. But, once I get going I’ll be okay. Today we’ll continue making the 100 cat mats for a local no-kill cat rescue. We hope to have this donation finished up this week to deliver soon! In the meantime, I’m onto the sleeves on my Timber cardigan (I think that happened Friday night?). This is the cardigan in our Large Project Bag and it still fits! We have some great prints in Large Bags in the shop. I did sneak in a bit of practice color work this weekend because it’s been in my mind lately (swipe to see my practice piece). Have you done color work?
