Frozen banana & cacao smoothie
✨ 1 cup milk
✨ 1 small frozen banana
✨ 2 tbsp Super Duper Original cacao
✨ 2 tbsp almond butter
✨ Sprinkle of cinnamon
✨ Handful of ice
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Serve cold and top with cacao nibs. Super Duper!

Every month it seems like there is a new ‘first’ to experience without my dad. Last month, going to my parents’ place in Florida for the first time without him was tougher than I expected because we spent a lot of time together as a family there. After that I was really struggling to motivate myself to create new food content for my Megs Cucina community. I decided to take a break until I felt my mojo back in the kitchen.....which happened this weekend, just in time for the holiday season 🎄🎁 While I know the first Christmas will not be easy, I’ll have the chance to celebrate and spend time with the amazing people that surround me and the best way I know how to celebrate is with good food 🤗

One of the biggest complaints I hear about vegan meals is that they just aren’t enough and always leave you craving for more. This pink smoothie bowl together with a mushroom toast from a previous post were my only 2 meals for the day, no snacks. I wasn’t hungry at all, even the mango tray remained untouched 😝Here are some tips how to feel satisfied when eating #vegan
: - If I balance savory and sweet throughout the day chances of sudden desire to eat a whole bag of chips or a chocolate bar are very minimal. - Adding seeds & nuts to smoothies and salads, my favorite are pumpkin, sesame, flax, chia and activated almonds. Same goes for spices - eating something full of flavor feels much better and helps to cut down on salt. I love cinnamon, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek and mustard seeds. - I’m not a huge fan of oils*, but a good dressing always helps to make a salad more interesting. I prefer lemon juice, tahini, hummus and vinegar. - Take your time, eat slow, chew well and enjoy every bite 💚
*In Australia many products have a health star rating on the packaging. I was really surprised to see that organic extra virgin olive oil has only 3 stars out of 5, which would be similar to e.g. corn chips and 😳 Any thoughts, why it’s so low? .

Winter smoothies call for grounding veggies. I added a few beet chunks to my smoothie this morning, kicking up the nutrient content and also upping the color game 💜💕 The fruit masks the taste of the veggies. Feel free to use a whole frozen banana for a creamier version.
Here’s how you can DO IT 👇🏼
↠1 cup @foragerproject
↠handful of frozen strawberries
↠1/2 frozen banana
↠1/2 sliced and frozen zucchini
↠3 sliced chunks of raw or cooked beets
↠1 tablespoon of chia seeds
↠2 scoops @furtherfood
Blend everything together in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy. I use a @vitamix.
