Hartz Peak a few weekends ago. Such a lovely place to be! That day anyway.
With wind gusts up to 120kmh, wind chill down to -15°C, and light snow, I think it would be an uncomfortable place to be today tho. But you gotta have the rough weather to get that lovely snow.
Now I can hear people in other countries thinking "Pfftt! That's nothing!" That's my superpower btw, hearing the thoughts of people in other countries.
Sadly I don't have any superpowers or even normal powers when it comes to cross country skiing. I tried it once. I'd had downhill skiing lessons, was not very good, but thought because of that I could just read up on how to do turns, which are different on cross country skis
Turns out it's not that simple! I could ski all right in a straight line, and loved being able to climb hills which you can't really do on downhill skis, but I couldn't figure out how to turn! So I crashed. A lot.
I also couldn't figure out how to stop. Except by crashing.
Fortunately it wasn't near any cliffs or I wouldn't be writing this now!
So anyway, to all those people overseas thinking "Pfft, that's nothing!": do you reckon you could just imagine turning on your cross country skis so I can figure it out?
Might be a good weekend for it coming up 😉
