The works by Adithya Lakshmi K R is visualizing a nostalgic past. The collections of photographs of old families of Kottayam Christians from the 1960’s; siblings, married couples, families and corpses are transformed into a creative body of work, and brings back this mystery through the medium of painting. The artist herself says;"When some one see these photographs, an array of emotions can pass through their minds. I wanted to present these emotions in a clear form". They travelled a long way from family albums and living rooms to reach this collective space. This ambience is further enhanced by the unique display. The gallery space in Pachamama itself is an old wooden Kerala domestic architecture of the bygone era. The paintings are displayed in a manner resembling the old houses itself, humbly leaning from the walls, slightly off the walls, looking down to us, beyond time and space; existing outside the realm of mortality. The paintings are displayed in such warmth of domestic aesthetics- a personal space, like photos of our beloved in a purse. Welcome to this house with such anonymous tones. Experience this unique art work and curation @ pachamama from May 19 to June 14, Curated by Shanto Antony, Art works by Adithya Lakshmi K R.
