Slash and burn. From far away, we saw forest fires and we quickly learned that those were for clearing the land, mostly for agriculture. In a way, this photo represents a lot of what I’ve been thinking about since I got back a couple of weeks ago: the juxtaposition of nature and economic issues (development, poverty, pollution, etc.) in Madagascar.
“Travel is not always comfortable, even when the scenery is at its most beautiful. Look out the window, get too close, and the reality of the situation—the world you will soon be leaving behind—intrudes.” - Anthony Bourdain
My last photo for my trip to #Madagascar
