Speed can be taught! The athlete must know precisely what, where and when to move to improve that certain skill. “Empty Directions” are not clear to a novice. Should the knee height be two inches higher or 3 inches? How fast should the knee get into position? Be specific! Great job Alexa!

Excellent example of how a high speed treadmill can be used to improve running/sprinting mechanics. We use/teach a 5-point approach to running form: 1. Foot-strike: on the ball of thr foot, ankle strong but neutral (not pointed up or down). 2. Hip flexion: the hips should flex (knees raised) to an angle close to 90-degrees, and the movement should be powerful. 3. Pelvic tilt: the pelvis should be kept in a neutral position (not tilted forwards or backwards). 4. Trunk angle: the trunk should be kept perpendicular to the ground, with only a slight forward lean. 5. Arm-swing: the arms should be relaxed and swing loosely from the shoulders, with the thumb of the front hand moving in front of the chin, and the thumb of the back hand moving behind the "back pocket". #soccer #fitness #soccerfitness #soccerspeed #speedforsoccer #runningmechanics #gols

HIP Work and the role of the HIPS with Speed development. As I promised @nxtusplaya I'd post some info about strengthening hips and how the hips are so crucial in speed improvement. The picture includes 4 photos with the top left being a picture of a 22 Inch Blue Versa Loop for stretching the PSOAS ( Hip Flexor Major) I purchased several of these from Power Systems.com for my NFL/CFL combine training crew for the PSOAS stretch so we could create more of an elastic response with the hip flexors. These bands cost just $6. The Grey band is for short shuffling and sprinting movements seen in the bottom left picture. We shuffle through 12 inch hurdles, or cones, then move straight into a 5 yard finishing sprint. These 12 inch bands are worn above the knees, cost $3.75 each and are crucial for activating and thoroughly working hip flexors, hip extensors, hip abductors, and hip adductors. In the 2 pictures on the right @straightflexxing12 is demonstrating a left and right PSOAS stretch by bringing the band directly over his head with both hands. Perform this stretch whenever you speed train, follow it with a couple of minutes of lateral shuffles and 5 yard sprints using the 12 inch grey bands followed by your resisted sprints and sled work and your speed improvement program will become lethal! #speed #flexibility #dynamicflexibility #performancetraining #speedkills #speedforsoccer #baseballspeed #footballspeed #fastathletes #speedtraining #sportsperformance #sports

Most importantly however, this young lady is an outstanding person, and ultimate team player first.
