This is a surprise to me but then again not really... I try to be independent & different but when you love choppers, speed, & adventure, that's admittedly difficult. I've fantasized about LandSpeed Racing since I was a boy, seeing my friend's @lowbrowcustoms
efforts didn't sour my desires but I certainly didn't want to be a copycat. So I focused on High Altitude Ridding with @himalayanheroesusa...
then out of the blue Kyle & Tyler invited me to crew at Bonneville (I think they knew what would happen) I quickly learned it's a "more the merrier" affair as they welcomed me into their #racefamilly
! I WAS HOOKED! Leaving the salt I bought 2 copies of the SCTA rulebook (little did I know I had a reason for 2). Days later on a call with @kickstartcycle
I was venting & wondering how I was going to build a bike for #Speedweek
2019 & run 6 Himalayan tours while taking care of my biz & personal life... no small task for me because though I do wrench I don't consider myself a "builder" leaving that title for more deserving folks. Anyhow before the convo with Walt was done we had hatched a plan to team up for his Born Free bike making it a Landspeed Racer. The plan is I'll support him along the way & after the bike is shown we hit Speed Week, I'll "Pilot" while Walt is Crew Chief! It's funny how if you keep working at your dreams life has a way of laying the road in front of you... If you had told a teenage me I'd be, riding the highest roads in the world, spitting fire, flying planes, & heading for Bonneville, I likely would have thought I lacked the confidence for any of that... I don't know if I'm ready for this Landspeed thing but it should fit in nicely with the other wacky things I've been up to these last few years. For a guy that doesn't like to put himself out there, life sure is driving it, what the hell maybe that makes it more authentic or something... Well, at least that’s how I'm selling myself on putting up this series of photos. Maybe if it helps another person struggling with self-esteem/addiction/ptsd take the leap to follow their dreams then its the right thing, regardless thanks to all my industry peeps for the encouragement! Let's go racing! -Bear
