Life isn't always grand, but the Grand Bazaar of Tehran sure is #lovethisplace
The largest Bazaar in the middle east and my favorite must do every time I visit Iran. This isn’t a bazaar tailored to the tourists with cutesy decorative souvenirs. This Bazaar is more down to earth, more like a (huge) local market. While all the trendy cool kids are shopping in the new modern shopping centers I love roaming through the old beautiful passage ways sprawled over 10km. They’re crowded, loud and if you don’t move fast enough there is a high chance you’ll get run over by a hauling cart. Even for the locals it’s not an everyday place to shop, it’s just too much of a production, my family may go once a decade, if that. But I could spend all my time getting lost in the maze of bustling alleys (mainly the golden market, of course)…I just love it! So if you are ever in Tehran, whether you are looking for a nail clipper, nuts and spices, a carpet or a stack of 24k gold bangles this is where you will find anything and everything in one place while surrounded by the 200 year old traditional Iranian architecture. Happy shopping!
