"If I put in the extra effort, it will get easier for me. I keep telling myself I don't want to be the same the next year, I don't want to be at the same level. I need myself to go up." - Eighteen-year-old India allrounder @jemimahrodrigues
, who became the first Indian woman to hit a half-century on World T20 debut last year, on setting personal goals and striving to be a better athlete.
I observed Rodrigues' batting, fielding (and braces) for a more than a year, and shadowed her during two of her practice sessions in Mumbai a couple of weeks ago. My endeavours have taken the shape of a profile of the teenager for @espncricinfo.
Check out the link in my bio to read the story entitled 'Jemimah Rodrigues: ready for lift-off', which also features a few photos I clicked (in the company of a pigeon, without either of us trying to distract Rodrigues much during her nets sessions).
