As you do your yard clean up this fall, would you consider dropping off your bagged leaves by our farm stand? 🍁🍂 We will be using leaves to cover every flower bed. Over the next several months, our resident earthworms will feast on those leaves and turn them into rich organic matter that builds our soil. Next season’s flowers will be fed by this year’s “waste”. Of course, it’s not waste — it’s a precious and irreplaceable resource, another way that death is the first preparation for new life. ☀️ And I love thinking that something from YOUR home will forever be part of the Home Again Flowers field. 🌱
Please don’t drop off any other yard waste (sticks, garden waste, sod, etc.) We can use leaves from healthy trees only. 🌿 Thank you! - - - - -
Ask the questions that have no answers.
Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest
that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.
Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns. [from Wendell Berry’s Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front]
