Training the Jump with Stop and Go, 1/4 Squat Belt Squats - Top Set at 400 lbs for 5 Reps, Then, Drop sets at 360 (360x8) ✅Trying our some cool ideas on the Belt Squat for the next few weeks. I’m performing these as stop and go reps to emphasize force production and limit the bounce in the squat, much like the idea of a box squat (in the strength quality I’m training for, not the positioning). I’m doing 1/4 squats to really focus on the top range of motion and to really train for and improve my jumps as force production per unit of bodyweight that you have is a big factor in jump performance (there are several). ✅The drawback to 1/4 squat back squats is that they overload the back without as much stress on the legs, when you use the belt squat there is very little stress on the back and it’s almost entirely focused in the hips and legs. By comparing myself to others my size I am very weak with what I’m lifting, but I’m new at this and I had major brain surgery almost 4 years ago so I know I have a little bit of catching up to do and believe me, I WILL! I just worked up to my top 3RM set of paused fronts and did 10 lbs more than my previous 1RM front squat during the last training cycle. I’ve got lots of room for improvement and I’m not stopping. Just for fun I added all my new fraction plates to this last set. I don’t always train legs 😅 Find a weakness and hit it head on. I tell my kids every single day that the only way they will ever get better at something they aren’t so good at, is to keep practicing and doing that very thing until they do become better. Making sure they have an example through me, by taking my own advice and applying it daily. 💪🏽

Why do goals and resolutions have to be all or nothing? If we only ever focus on failing because we didn’t accomplish the end state we will miss the whole point! The end state is the goal, and the goal is why we put in the work... buttttttt what if we started to view the work as the goal and the end state as a bonus? Even if you fail, fall off the band wagon and have to get back after it, you’re still working for that goal. So instead of beating yourself up for fucking up your resolution already why not be patient with yourself and just get back on track? Don’t waste time focusing on what happened or why you went astray for a hot second... that already happened and you can’t undo it. You can control what happens next though. So make the next moment count and do the work. The work is what really matters anyway!
