She’s just so pretty! 🐶 💕
When I go to daycare I turn into a model. It’s just the way it works. I don’t make the rules.
So today I went for a walk with Ace and I’ve had two incidents that slightly upset me. First - a lady with a dog who was off the lead was approaching us so I made him sit and wait for her to pass, because I know Ace can get overexcited when seeing another living being. When he got excited and started pulling towards the dog, she rolled her eyes at me, muttered something unfriendly and crossed the street to completely avoid us. I mean I appreciate they avoided us, but was all the extra reaction really necessary? Wagging tail doesn’t really scream ‘aggression’?
Second - Ace was perfectly fine walking right next to me, watching me and paying attention to me. A lady on the opposite side of the street grabbed her child’s hand and sped away in the opposite direction from us. 😔
Like okay, I understand Staffies have a bad reputation (quite unfair really but okay). And they’re boisterous and crazily energetic. And I’m not gonna lie, Ace is hard work. But in the month that I’ve had him with me, he’s not shown any sign of aggression towards another dog or another human. He’s super affectionate with everyone he meets (except when he wants to play and literally everything is a toy for him - shoelaces, sleeves, trousers 🤦♀️). And he loves every dog he meets - sure he’s all hyper and rough player, but at the end of the day... he’s a puppy! But he’s so eager to learn and to be good. I just wish people would see what I see in him is all. Like the ridiculous cuddly monster that he is 90% of the time.
Interrupting the flow of ink drawings to let you know that today marks a whole amazing year with my dog Renée.
Renée is a staffie cross, about 3.5 years old. She was abused and abandoned, and spent 14 months in a no-kill shelter because she was deemed too "ugly, old, and aggressive". She's traumatised and gets easily scared and aggressive with other dogs, but she picked me to be her human, and spends every day hugging me, playing with me, loving me, messing up my bed, and asking for snacks.
Give a shelter dog a chance. They might become your best friend.
Turns out this bull riding lark isn't so difficult xp
Ziggy is a cool new friend
