REAL TALK - 3 things: CHAOTIC LIVES, SHORT SPIRTS OF PRODUCTIVITY, ADMITTING FAILURE & TRYING AGAIN . 1 I have not worked out in 3 weeks… heres my “EXCUSE”.. After I came home from my 2 week stint out of town for work I let myself become “too busy” with house stuff and other nonsense that I didn’t get back on the program and for the past 2 weeks I have been on nights and not gotten into any sort of routine for myself. . Heres why thats just an excuse and not a valid reason: THERE are PEOPLE WAY MORE BUSY THAN ME, being WAY MORE PRODUCTIVE! . Now to miss a day here or there is totally acceptable. For example if I had just missed a day or two when I got back in town and then again after my first day on the night shift. Thats excusable for me at this stage in the game. . Not making an effort to address my absence from the gym not acceptable. . 2 Do you ever find yourself feeling VERY MOTIVATED for a short period of time, maybe a couple days and you get a lot accomplished and set goals etc.. But then you allow yourself to sort of drift away from it even though thats what you wanted? . Your not alone, I do this to and can’t stand the feeling when you look back and think, “what the heck happened?” . And if you don’t know what I’m talking about then your either a very productive person (GREAT for YOU) or you likely have no ambition and don’t realize it.. . Any way I think what I need to work on is just being conscious of when I begin to allow my self to ease off of the “production” too much. . 3 All that being said, the last 22 days I have failed, now its time to get over it and move forward, hopefully this time for longer than the last. . Slow and steady wins the race .. . . First photo January 2018; here I was at my heaviest (close to my full term pregnancy weight 🤦🏽‍♀️). . . Second photo was taken in June 2018; when I had started to hit the gym more due to being pain free from #endometriosis . . . Third photo was taken October 2018; 3 weeks into my #slimmingworldjourney dropping a total of 7.5lb so far. Still hitting the gym but doing longer cardio now instead of weights. . . Another 14lb to lose to reach my #targetweight it’s been hard but it’s been 4 years on Monday since I had my son and I couldn’t carry on being a fluffy butt anymore! Taper Mode • A week from today we will be starting our travels out east for our marathons! Cue the excitement and nerves! • I’m TERRIBLE at tapering before a race. I’m one who always feels like I need to be going, going, going and logging runs to stay at the level I want. It’s so important however to be resting up properly before big races! • This week we have been piecing together runs when we have time and just running by how we feel! Tonight was a 7 mile run with no particular goals except to run the last two miles at race pace. Legs felt good and finished the evening with my 50 squats and push-ups! Had quite a few workout options but decided to take the plunge and try Piyo today. I’ve been avoiding it simply because I haven’t really done yoga and wasn’t sure if I could do it. I’m used to bootcamp or body combat type of classes. Surprisingly I was tired and sweating throughout and worked muscles that I haven’t in a while. All in all I’m in and will be committing to their 6 week routine class in addition to my other group classes, independent and weightlifting workouts. Great way to mix it up! The weekends can be HARD when it comes to sticking to your goals. The weekdays tend to be very structured, making it easier to stick to your nutrition and hit the gym. But come the weekends, we tend to let loose, and want to indulge a little more. I GET IT. I feel that sometimes too. Indulging a little on the weekends, is OKAY. I have my weekly free meal on Saturday (emojis) But just because it is the weekend, doesn’t mean that you should just say screw it and you’ll start back on Monday. Keep reading for tips on how to stay on track! *Remind yourself of your goals! *Continue those routines that you have on the weekdays on the weekends! *Plan quick, easy, healthy meals that you enjoy for the weekends! *Go and do something active like going for a hike, running on the beach, playing your favorite sport, taking a bike ride, or go for a walk! *Create some sort of plan for your weekends so that you don’t find yourself eating because you’re bored. *Keep yourself accountable on the weekends! Leadership is not changing people’s thoughts to get them to do what we want. It’s about showing up consistently and authentically as yourself as an example of what is possible to others. ————————————————— As many of you know, I have always considered my health and fitness a priority. I have always set apart time to consistently work out and tried to make (mostly) good choices when it came to nutrition. . What people don’t know is I struggled with an eating disorder in my teenage years. Although I’ve been recovered for years, the fear of weight gain and imperfection has always lingered. Because of this, I’ve always felt so much guilt when I didn’t put in hours of cardio per week, or ate a cheat meal out at a restaurant. But yet, did I feel healthy? Happy? Confident? Lean? No way! News flash: restricting and then punishing yourself with vigorous cardio for living life is NOT the way to obtain any of those things!! . I started a program of fitness, nutrition, and accountability several months ago that has changed my life SO much that I’ve decided to pay it forward and become a health coach! My life has been drastically changed from the inside out, and I’ve found myself not only with physical results but mental clarity and a sense of confidence I’ve never known before. Not to mention accountability and friendships from girls I never would have met otherwise 🌸 . Who tracks their food? I have tracked for 6 years. I use the loseit app! As an experiment, I haven’t tracked in about 5 months to see the impact it has in my eating and goals. But starting today I am going to go back to tracking. For me, tracking my food by far helps me to make better choices and get me to my goals rather than not tracking. Yes I know what 4 ounces of meat looks like, half a cup of rice, what macros I should strive for etc... and you don’t have to track to get to your goals. Then I portion out a few meals worth of food and freeze the rest, taking it out little by little as I need it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Batch cooking is an amazing time saving option if you’re OK with having your meals “fresh from the freezer”🤣 When it’s sealed and packed properly, I really don’t taste a difference 🤷🏽‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll usually also make a pot of soup or chilli, a few overnight oat jars for breakfast, and chop up a bunch of veggies for salads 🥗 Sweet potato, Ezekiel bread, and basmati rice and usually my starchy carbs of choice and I’m good to go for the week 💃🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If the food is prepped, I really have no excuse to eat out and make unhealthy choices!
