Shame about the weather☀️...
So it’s time to tick this off our bucket list ✅ A challenging 4WD trip negotiating some pretty harsh terrain up to Steep Point the most western point of mainland Australia. If there is one thing anyone with a 4WD drive who has a bit of adventure in them should do when passing this way in Western Australia is this. Contrasting coastlines of tall rugged cliffs and beautiful beaches with amazing white sand dunes this dry and windswept limestone coast is a must 🚘🏝#steeppoint #sharkbay #sandtrack #challengingtrack #bucketlist #achievement #norealdestination #4wdaustralia #4wdadventure
with a very big visitor yesterday at Steep Point - Australia's westernmost whaleshark!!! 🐋🦈🐋🦈🐋🦈
We made it to the top! 🎉🎉 Our third edge of the mainland photo ticked off the list 😊 ✅ ✨Whilst there are definitely some similarities (water and wind!) the journey to each point so far has really highlighted the vast differences in our big and beautiful country. ⬅ We hit the west first which was a really remote sandy and rough 4x4 track, we didn't see another person out there and it's still such an adventure they have a visitor's book to sign. ➡ The east point we had to pay for parking and had a coffee at the shop 100m away in one of the busiest and most pretentious cities on the east coast. ⬆ The northern and most recent point, whilst possibly the most beautiful sits somewhere in between as far as accessibility. There seems to be more traditions involved here, most of them including fishing shirts, beer and frequent marriage proposals. ⬇ We are yet to visit the south, it involves a 40km hike and therefore a little more planning for our littles. We will get there eventually! Any tips from those that have done the trek from Wilson's prom we'd love to hear them!

I love trotting the globe with you ❥ @izzyj6
Мама на самой западной точке Австралии. Это место куда доезжают самые заядлые путешественники по пустыне ☉
Wow what an amazing experience right here in Shark Bay 🐳
One of the best whale encounters of the year. This pair of humpbacks literally swam circles round the boat eyeballing us, waving their pectoral find to say hi!!!
Steep Point!!!! 💪💪💪 yeah baby!!!! We set of early in the morning to tick of our 3rd Geographical Point... the most western point of Australia! 😃
What a phenomenal day we had 👍😃 The road in is definitely 4x4 only, it’s long and rough and constantly changing. One minute is corrugated, next it’s hard sand, soft sand, sand dune then rocky! Definitely one of the best 4x4 tracks we’ve done! 👍
Our first stop was Shelter Bay on the northern side of the point, this crescent shaped beach is absolutely jaw dropping! 😍🌸🏝🐠🐢🐬🐚🦅 The water is sooo crystal clear with beautiful soft sand backed with gorgeous plants and wildflowers 🌿🌼🌸 and views of Dirk Hartog Island. You can camp here (we wished we had 😔) but need to book well in advance.
Next up was the main reason for this drive... Steep Point 😃 we are officially standing at the most western point of mainland Australia! These tall rugged cliffs with huge powerful waves crashing on them from the Indian Ocean are truely awe inspiring! 😌
Time to explore Nor 6. The track from Steep Point to Nor 6 was extremely rocky. Nor 6 is on the Zuytdorp Cliffs and is a monument to the fishing boat that crashed in 1712. ⛵️🌊 These Zuytdorp Cliffs are made up of Tamala Limestone and reach 200 meters high, they extend 200 km’s and are the longest fault scarp in Australia.
A bit further down the cliffs and you come to Thunder Bay Blowholes 💦 unfortunately it wasn’t the right conditions for them to be at they’re best but one was blowing which was still fantastic! The others were all making all kinds of noise... all different due to the different size holes. But we had to be careful of where we walked because there were so many blowholes all over the cliff. 💦 we were hoping that the next set of blowholes would put on a show for us so we headed to False Entrance Blowholes. But they weren’t active today either. 😔 Time to head back to the caravan for dinner 😊
We must say Steep Point is an absolute epic adventure that we are glad we put in the effort to journey too... our only disappointment is that we didn’t book a campsite and stay for a few days 🏝⛺️ More detailed photos on Facebook

Steep Point, Australia's most western point produces not only some of the greatest sunsets, but some of the greatest sunrises too.
Camping, fishing, sitting around and just having a yarn with the blokes for hours, for days. Away from the city civilization and breathing in that fresh sea air.
