[Alma New Menu] The 4 snacks served before the actual course dinner ($197++ for 8 course dinner, additional $68 for wine pairing). One-Michelin-starred Alma by Juan Amador has just unveiled their latest dinner menu, and it was EXCELLENT. I’ll share the 8 courses next time, but I’ll start with the 4 snacks served before the 8 courses.
They’re humbly called "Alma Snacks", starting with the cold, refreshing "Strawberry" with ikura and curry pic (2nd pic); then the warm, creamy "Black Olives" with tomato and salted egg yolk (3rd pic); followed by my favourite "Foie Gras" with smoked eel, grape, and coffee (cover pic) playfully presented like a kaya toast in a nostalgic old school paper bag; and finally the rich "Amaebi" with sable and frozen yoghurt.
While Alma has retained some of their snacks in their signature form, there are fundamental changes to the snack. So when I thought I knew how each tasted like, I was surprised by its fresh new flavours. These 4 Alma Snacks are served whether you choose the 4 course ($117++), 6 course ($158++), or 8 course ($197++) menu. And it’s certainly very exciting and enjoyable.
The wine-pairing option at additional $68++ comes with 5 glasses of wines specially curated by their experienced in-house sommelier, Mr Saravana. The wine pairing option doesn't include wine for these snacks, but the Diebott Vallois Champagne Brut ($19/glass) is recommended. Indeed, it had a supple texture with bright acidity, very lively as an aperitif at the beginning of the meal.

Beer Guinness Draught Stout (SGD $9.90) @ Black & Ink.
Named after Arthur Guinness, and is brewed by Diageo PLC in Dublin, Ireland.
Among the most famous beers worldwide, this has a deep, dark black brown colour, with a creamy white foam head.
The aroma and taste is similar, consisting of smoked malts, roasted coffee beans, faint caramel, and barley.
The body is rich, velvety smooth, almost creamy, and the tap version has a more pronounced sweet grainy flavour, lacking the bitter taste of the bottled version.
Always time for a Guinness. Cheers!.

Peek-a-boo with lemon drizzle cake ($5.90) - one of the desserts specially for Halloween n it is quite sweet although it has some lemon drizzle 🎃 As most of you polled that you will not try the creepin it real cake (swipe to see more), so do I! The green patterned plate from @villeroyboch

After the disastrous experience of celebrating my birthday at an unknown restaurant that was super ulu, too crowded, made us wait too long for the first dish & was too noisy to even talk properly, I was relieved to find a nice Italian place that is quiet & serves good food.
Thoroughly impressed by the food & ambience at Madrinaa. It made my dad's birthday celebration everything that mine was not 😁

partner, which helped my party of 4 get half off the pastas & pizzas we ate:
Fettuccine Boscaiola, Penne Vodka with Crabmeat, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Half & Half Pizza (where you choose 2 flavours on a single pizza)
For the pizza, we chose Ferrara (a pesto chicken pizza with pine nuts & bell pepper) & Stresa (a mixed seafood pizza with black olives & fresh parsley). Both pizzas had plenty of mozzarella & tomatoes on them.
I only wish our reservation wasn't at 7:30PM because that's when happy hour (1-for-1 on beer & wine) ended. I guess my next dinner reservation should be at an earlier time 😂
Good food good company at cafe bar Runway 80 the other day. Liked how the deco and menu are consistent with the airport/runway theme.
My favs are the Pulled Pork Sliders, Salmon Fillet, and the Onion Rings. Really blown away by the standards of their food!

Buttermilk Waffles With Gelato - Sea Salt Malt & Durian King (SGD $15.40) @ Black & Ink.
This house made, classic crisp buttermilk waffle has a slight crunch and a bready sweet savoury flavour.
We got 2 scoops of rich, creamy smooth gelato on top. The Sea Salt Malt gelato has a sweet salty tangy flavour, while the premium Durian King has a fruity sweet, bold flavour of Mao Shan Wang durians.
Tip: Get dressings served on the side, so it doesn't ruin the natural gelato flavours.

Another Itacho regular on my feed, the Roasted Salmon w/ Tenkasu Roll ($9.20) is something that I always order whenever I'm at Itacho Sushi! 😀 .
While the main star of this dish is obviously the salmon roll with its perfectly torched pieces of salmon, I can't help but love the crunchy tenkasu bits which I always polish off everytime I have this roll! So oishii!!! 😋

After all, who says sushi must be expensive to taste good? 😜
hawaiian chicken w mexican cheese pasta and veg — went for a late dinner so they were out of my fav house potatoes however in hindsight i’m glad that happened bc if not i wld have nvr tried the pasta which was absolutely divine. the pasta was coated generously in a rich creamy cheese sauce. it was super flavourful and i loved that it had a bite to it instead of being soggy. the chicken was a substantial portion layered w tomato sauce, pineapples, melty mozzy cheese and topped w cherry tomatoes. it was honestly delightful and v affordable as well 🤤
AHH-BURI!!! Hands up those who love aburi as much as I do! 🙌 .
To all my fellow aburi lovers, you've gotta try the Aburi Seafood Don ($12.80) from Itacho Sushi which features a variety of partially grilled seafood including salmon 🐟 , unagi, scallop, ebi 🦐 , ikura and two chunks of tamagoyaki to complement the tastes of the ocean! 🌊 .
All the seafood was incredibly fresh and I particularly enjoyed the salmon (my one true love!), the plump & juicy scallop, and the sweet-tasting ebi! 😋 .
At just $12.80, this is also a value for money bowl and I can definitely see myself getting this whenever I wanna satisfy my aburi cravings! 😄

With a huge group, we started with the sharing platter which consists of grilled steak, salmon, chicken chop, chicken cutlet, cheese fries, salad and sunny side up with choices of 2 pasta sauces from Hae Bee Hiam, Marinara , Aglio Olio and Cream. Next up is the Indulge Bowls which has a base of short grain rice or soba served with poached egg alongside Chicken Cutlet, Chicken Chop, Grilled Salmon, Truffle Mushroom or Hae Bee Hiam Clams. Swan Lake Scone Original With Butter & Strawberry Jam (SGD $5.30) @ Black & Ink.
This house made scone has a soft exterior that yields easily, while the interior is crumbly with a buttery grainy sweet flavour.
Served with fruity sweet strawberry jam, and a luscious dollop of creamy smooth butter.
It's very good. Among the better versions I've had. Wish I could get it with cream cheese.

[Invited Tasting] With the start of the new week, how about we explore some Health-Tea bubble teas that are delicious as well? Doesn’t this sound just like your cuppa tea? 🍵
A hidden gem for health-tea bubble tea, One 2 One is different from the many other bubble tea joints. The owners of One 2 One, Jane and James, were inspired by their son to sell healthy bubble tea as he enjoyed drinking bubble tea, but most of the other bubble tea joints in the market offer you a cup that is mostly filled with sugar, toppings, ice, creamer and very little tea.
Even better, the tea leaves are imported from China and Taiwan, so your cuppa tea will always be full of aroma! 😌
Let's explore a few of their flavours:
1. Golden Oolong
This tea had a very light roasted taste paired with a unique mango flavoured seaweed pearl. The owners added 50% sugar to allow us to taste the sugar effect and it was quite sweet!
2. Pinkcess 👑
A white tea paired with strawberry pulp, the taste of Pinkcess was quite similar to that of less sweet strawberry pocky. Even with 0% sugar, there was just the right amount of sweetness, and didn’t make my taste buds crave for water!
3. Purple Lemonade w. Yoghurt Popping Boba.
Due to my allergy to lemon, I didn’t have the opportunity to taste the Purple Lemonade. According to my fellow foodies, the Purple Lemonade was pleasantly sour and refreshing, and complemented the Yoghurt Popping Boba. Everything from the colour to the “magical” popping flavour of the boba makes it perfect for the upcoming Halloween!
4. Hawthorn Berry w. Bird's Nest.
The Hawthorn Berry was perfectly tart and refreshing for my preferences. I was able to pamper my tastebuds further as this drink had an addition of bird's nest imported directly from Indonesia. It is to be noted that I quite like tart food, so for some people, this drink may be a tad too tart, especially with no sugar.
Apart from drinks, One 2 One also sells a variety of snacks that are not only yummy but super affordable! Try their Waffle Stick with Chicken Hotdog for savoury goodness!
