Because I rode my bike to work today, a turtle is alive.
After a long day at work filled with the usual shenanigans, I rode my bike back home. Not only is it great exercise, but you also get to make a lot of new friends. People are ever so friendly, they leave ample room for you on the road when there’s no path, they honk their horn and give you cutie nicknames, because, like wow, it’s a lady on a bike wearing both a helmet AND a construction vest so she’s protecting her nuggin’ and is visible is definitely worth calling out nicknames from their car while they pass you soooooo close, you think it’s because they’re offering you a ride. Well, on my way home up Bathurst St. I drove by something on the side of the road, at first I continued to ride along, then it clicked that hey, that’s a turtle. I turned around and drove back, Lo and behold, a turtle on its shell, stuck and no where to go. I picked it up and phew, it was still alive. After cooing at it and probably looking like a mental person, it decided to stick it’s head out and all four legs, so that to me was a sign that it was in good health and spirits. So I put it in a grassy area on the side of the road and watched it scurrying away. So bottom line of my long story is, because I rode my bike today I was able to save a turtle that otherwise most likely would’ve perished, because it was stuck on its shell. So honk your horn. Drive close to me on the road. Yell out profanities in
surprise when you all of a sudden realize that I’m sharing the road with you, because I appeared out of “nowhere” ( not mentioning the phone in your hand ). Because you know what ? I saved a turtle today because I was riding my bike.
